💕 the gamble 💕
One of the new songs I’m working on for a new project, I feel like songwriting is such an odd beast. It’s not something that I feel like I’m getting heaps better at over time, perhaps it sometimes even feels a bit harder that it used to because I’m comparing every new thing to so many old songs that I’m so proud of.
More than anything, I’ve been aiming at complete honesty when I’m writing. Any time I get stuck on a lyric, a melody, a chord, I come straight back to ‘why am I writing this? How do I feel? What does that look like? How would I describe it if I didn’t care what anyone else thought?’
There are some new songs coming out of me that no one will ever hear, and I think those ones are equally as important as the bangers. They are the proof that I can always write and say whatever I need to. For me first, before anyone else. Songwriting is an odd beast, but a beautiful one that I love so much 💕
