1. Me, Amy- Chief floral maker

After I got made redundant from my 'career' fashion job in london i retrained in wedding floristry. Things didnt really take off until i got made redundant again a year later from another job within gifting and sales.
I convinced mum to start growing flowers for weddings. She was already well established and been working in the industry for over 20 years and has qualifications in horticulture and floristry. So i just gave her a push (forced her) to move into weddings with me. I wanted a unique selling point and wanted to use predominantly british flowers that we grew, giving that special touch to weddings. Something no one else is doing in this immediate area. I wanted to show brides the flowers and grow what they wanted in their bouquets.
I managed to book my first wedding in 2020 with the amazing Holly, who trusted me. I will never be grateful enough to her and Tom for giving me the chance to prove myself.
We started off in my mum and dad's garden on a small plot and now rent land from a farmer and we have 3 poly tunnels and over 8 16ft beds for cutting flowers. (All thanks to the hard graft and work my dad has done - i will never be able to thank him or pay him enough for what he has done or enabled me to be able to do)
I am the face of flutter florals, the ones that does your wedding flowers but no doubt you might see us all rock up to set up for your wedding as we a team. A flower family πΏπ±

My email/messages are always open. Don't be surprised if you get messages back at midnight as I do all my admin once kids are in bed as my days are filled with work at the farm and weddings. If you want to book consulation for this year please do get in touch i only have limited weekends to be able to see people due to wedding commitments. π±πΏ any questions you have now pop them in comments. πΏπ±
Need a pop of whimsy floaty yellow in your floral displays in may.. have you ever thought about using rapeseed? It grows all over the fields here in the UK as planted by farmers and self seeds in random places so there is loads of it about. Unconventional? Yes! Seasonal? Yes! Pretty? Also Yes! πΏπ±
πΏπ±Sarahπ±πΏ lovely bright pastels using a mix of what was up in the tunnels including poppies, rogue lucky lips snapdragon, corncockles, sweet peas, sweet rocket and other bits like geums, delphinium, nigella, campanula, oxypetalum, obviously got ranunculus in there and Coral charm peonies my favourite variety.
Can we please have more floral clouds instead of hoops this year. They are the modern take on suspended florals. You can have 1 large one or lots of little ones. They are a great way to use empty space above you. Especially in tipi's and barns. Please can I do more of them π
Tell me why you are still asking for or picking gypsophila when all these fabulous filler flowers exist. I hate gypsophila so much and dont use it in my work at all! This is just my personal opinion. π±Please note the alternatives are season dependent. π±
Where I differ to other florists. I own and run a flower farm, growing specifically for my booked weddings. I cater all my flowers for my couples plus a few of my favourites thrown in for good measure. You get a truly unique experience and can come out to the farm and select flowers for your wedding. I am the only one in the area offering this and the original in the area to be a farmer florist exclusively. Other flower farmers provide wholesale etc not growing exclusively for their own weddings. It is a closed farm and only offer out flowers if there is surplus after my booked weddings. I grow flowers you simply cannot buy in from a wholesaler as they dont grow them on a large scale. I us3 flowering shrubs and plants/flowers you wouldn't expect. I am proud to be different and proud of my flower farm to cater for so many incredible weddings. π±πΏ Are you ready to join team Flutter this year or next for your wedding florals? π±
I am now a professional grass cutter or edge perfector if you will. My dad used to do this for me at the farm but he working on other projects so need to keep the grass off my flower beds before it takea over. It is a full time job the bloody grass always getting in the way. We would put black membrane down but it is so boggy in the winter that it would be a mud bath and the grass helps to absorb some of the moisture. Even though this takes up more and more time and is it worth it? I mean it does look really nice in summer with neat beds and rows of flowers with grass still around as feels very natural and less industrial flower farm vibes. πΏπ±
After yesterdays post about being sustainable on the farm today I am talking about being sustainable within my floristry work. 80% of the time I use flowers from our farm but qtys and growth of certain flowers, weather etc means I need to order in sometimes to meet the demand. I deliver bouquets in vases not plastic aqua pacs. If I am doing general bouquets then they are only wrapped with paper no plastic. I avoid single use items and hire out alot of items such as vases and welcome signs so you dont need to buy and contribute to more consumation of items that wont have a use after your wedding. I only cut what I need from the field to avoid waste. All the tiny wonky stems and snapped stems go in bud vases. And as said before I dont use floral foam i use sustainable methods such as chicken wire and moss. π±πΏ
