Thank you @appalachianwild for taking care of this eastern box turtle found injured in the backyard in April (see last photo)!! Theyāve been looking after this friend, among the plethora of other wildlife they help, and it was time to release him back into the wild (aka the backyard - itās important to rerelease turtles where you found them or keep the turtle in the direction it was going if you help one across the road).
Glad to know this little one is back doing his turtle thing in the yard, where he can hide under bushes and leaves, sunbathe, and live his best turtle life in the wild where he belongs.
Is it even Comic-Con if you look back at your photos and realize you meant to take more pics with the friends you spent time with but didnāt? Thank you @mystgalaxybooks and @chroniclebooks for having me to host the Yours Mine and Ours panel and enabling a fun weekend with fellow nerds! My feet are dead but my heart is full!
(Also thank you to everyone who got Women of the Galaxy and Hulk Not Smash and came to my signing!!)
I was so *thrilled* to see Thrill Ride on @litlocalbooks shelf last night at @silentbookclubasheville !! Lit Local has carts around Asheville featuring local authors and itās a such a cool concept! š„° Thank you for including me, Jacqui!

It was February 2024, sometime after midnight at Cape Town Film Studios. I crossed an Aiel encampment, delirious from jetlag and joy, stepping around braziers with scented smoke and giving the Aiel background cast a wide berth so as to not disrupt filming. With two other reporters, I ducked into a tent fully dressed with decor and cushions and interviewed Holger, producer for The Wheel of Time, while filming continued on the other side of the set. I sat in an Aiel tent. Surreal.
I try not to use the term core memory lightly, but this oneās seared into me. This trip, my second time being lucky enough to visit The Wheel of Time sets (the first time in Prague - the second image is from the Two Rivers in August 2023), was magicāand not just because I never fully knew what time it was. We talked to the cast and crew, we meandered through the passages in Cold Rocks Hold, I tried not to fall off the docks in Tanchico (I succeeded). I tried not to cry when I watched Ayoola Smart as Aviendha release her spears and face a destiny she didnāt ask for or want (I did not succeed).
To watch that scene, that moment, come to life in front of me. Magic.
The passion of every crew member on the sets in Cape Town, their dedication to honoring Robert Jordanās story and Rafeās vision for it. Magic.
The cast making time between scenes to nerd out with us about their characters. Magic.
A woman who was once a lost teen stepping into the sets for a world that fundamentally shaped and empowered her during a time when she felt alone? A world and books that made me understand the power of story. Magic.
Before the news of the cancellation, I was already planning on getting a Wheel of Time tattoo tomorrow - an avendesora leaf to symbolize the unlocking of my own Waygate - but now it will feel even more powerful.
I hope, some way and somehow, that we see the rest of Rafe and teamās story and vision for The Wheel of Time. Thereās so much story to go. But at the same time, Iām beyond grateful for what we got. (Still not going to forgive any of you for ripping my heart out multiple times in season 3 though).

Iāve learned a lot this year, maybe especially the value in asking others for help and grace and letting them show up for you in all kinds of ways. Thank you @natahime_ and @kalskirata9 for enabling a weekend of magic. āØš

āØStar Wars: Women of the Galaxy Updated and Expanded is out TODAY!!! Some of you have been asking me about this for years and it was so hard to keep this secret under my hat!!!āØ
Letās rewind to 2017. I got an email from my editor at @chroniclebooks , Steve, about potentially working on a book highlighting the incredible female characters in Star Wars. I could hardly believe it. My dream then was to write a Star Wars book and there was an email in my inbox asking if I wanted to do just that and it was the most perfect project I could imagine?!! I sent writing samples, weighed in on characters, and started working on my first book.
The first edition of Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy came out in 2018. It started me down a road of writing nonfiction Star Wars and Marvel books, a Star Wars short story, a Star Wars childrenās picture book, a novel of my own, and Iām not done yet. Iām forever grateful to Star Wars for opening the door to my creativity (The Clone Wars and Ahsoka Tano are why I started a blog and pursued my passion for writing) and for the many, many kind people at Lucasfilm who have supported me over the years and put my name forth for projects.
It was a delight to go into this update!!! Disney+ wasnāt even a thing when the first edition came out! Adding characters from the TV series (live action and animated) - Omega! Maarva! - and from The High Republic and more reconnected me with my fandom. I loved revisiting and expanding characters like, for example, Beru Lars and Mon Mothma. The galaxy far, far away remains a place of escape and joy for me and updating Women of the Galaxy, where my publishing career started, has been a giftāa meaningful one. So many of these characters inspire me and remind me of the ways a single person, no matter their origins, can change the galaxy.
I hope you enjoy the update. As ever, pick it up for the art alone!!! If you read my essays, thatās just a bonus.
Also, 2018 Amy cannot believe so many people know Ahsoka now that we got to put her on the cover!!! šš§”
Iām glad I got up early for @blueridgeaudubon and @venturesbirding bird walk this morning at Beaver Lake! I saw two new to me birds: green herons and a yellow-throated warbler. Birders are great because they will stop mid-sentence to say things like āwait I heard an eastern kingbird.ā (We werenāt able to spot it though!)
