Happy Easter, people!!! Here is a little back story to my outfit... When I earned my first salary at the FAO-UNITED NATIONS, I bought my mum this tomato design Hollandais Vlisco wrapper. She was so happy and prayed for me. It will be 15 years tomorrow that she died, and I have never stopped missing her. After her burial, I took the wrappers from her akpati and turned them into this skirt and blouse. While putting it on, I could not close the zipper, and I struggled for over 15 minutes. I did not want to change the outfit, and before I knew it, I burst into tears and said: "Mama, don't you want to go to church?" I tried again, and the zipper went through. I smiled... Knowingly. My Mum always led the group of women in my home Anglican Church to look for Jesus and announce His resurrection around the community. She has been asleep for 15 years now, and the world has moved on, but my siblings and I will never forget JANET AZUENWEOYI OKIKE ATAMA, Nee Ugwuagbo.
