Moonmedicin, the multimedia concept band led by artist Sanford Biggers, presents The Great Escape, their first record pressed with Third Man Records in collaboration with Wasserman Projects. Founded in 2007, Moonmedicin is an ever-evolving performance art soundsystem blending original compositions with reimagined covers, layered alongside sci-fi imagery, sacred geometry, film noir, political symbolism, and ceremonial dance. Led creatively by Biggers, the collective features a rotating cast of musicians and artists including Martin Luther McCoy, Jahi Sundance, and Mark Hines. I have been a safe space quite often. •Flora and Fauna on a bday celebration •Perfect Saturday dining… •I have worked in production longer than I have not…and it always annoys me when I can’t lock off a shot •Thank God, my grandmother is not on Instagram, but I swear I didn’t go with sweats to the MET …I had on a blazer… •Forever and ever grateful for my friendship •God is good •They have always been and will always be the best parts of me •My legacy so far beyond my children has been my block in BedStuy… when I bought my building 23 years ago, and I went up and down the block and had all the homeowners sign the form not a single tree existed on my block before I moved in

As a fellow filmmaker, I know firsthand that ideas need budgets. Featuring art by Allison Janae Hamilton, Anthony Akinbola, Reginald Sylvester II, Saul Williams, Sanford Biggers by way of his band MoonMedicin, and Tunde Adebimpe of TV On The Radio, this auction exists because of community, generosity, and a deep belief in the power of art across disciplines.
