Frank Merle, @cy_univ and @institut_ihes , is the recipient of the 2026 @breakthrough Prize in Mathematics "for breakthroughs in nonlinear evolution equations, with regards to their stability, singularity formation, or resolution into solitons," according to the citation.
In addition, the Breakthrough Prize Foundation recognized four early-career mathematicians, Otis Chodosh, @stanford , Vesselin Dimitrov, @caltechedu , Yunqing Tangwith, @ucberkeleyofficial , and Hong Wang Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques and @nyuniversity , the New Horizons in Mathematics Prize.
Amanda Hirschi, IMJ-PRG, @sorbonne_univ , Anna Skorobogatova, Clay Research Fellow and @ethzurich , and Mingjia Zhang, @princeton and @instituteforadvancedstudy , were also awarded by the Breakthrough Prize Foundation with the Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize.
