Nationally, four out of five people killed in road construction zone crashes are drivers or passengers. To keep roadways and construction sites safe for all, follow the tips below:
• Slow down when driving through construction zones, especially on roads with higher speed limits.
• Pay attention to changing traffic patterns when entering and exiting construction zones and be careful when changing lanes.
• Give construction workers plenty of space when driving through a construction zone.
• Plan ahead by checking your route and use detours when possible.
