Workshop #3 this time at @manmetuni . Thanks for having me and good luck to the third year students on their final projects! #locationsound #locationsoundworkshop
Yesterday I gave two guest lectures/ workshops at Staffs uni on location sound in film with @staffsfilmmedia students. We covered everything including strategies for booming & radio mics, time code, analysed some scenes and finally went on to apply what we had explored. It was a great day and I look forward to seeing them in the industry in the future! Thanks Staffs for having me #staffsuni #locationsound #soundlecture #soundworkshop #locationsoundUK
A really interesting and surprisingly gripping book about a woman dealing with the relationships that make up her family and the growth and alienation that comes with education. I understand it was massive in America. I'd seen a review for it and considered getting it then found it second hand in a charity shop- and it's a welcome break from Infinite Jest!

The Sunday Telegraph obviously hadn't read the book, there wasn't much funny stuff in it. However, it was a great account of anxiety and provided plenty of food for thought about the history and cultural significance of this affliction. A personable book that left me feeling warm for the author and many parts resonated with me and my own experiences. #scottstossel #myageofanxiety #reading
Safe to say 2023 was the year of getting back in shape. For whatever reason it stuck this time- countless half marathons, countless triathlons, Manchester marathon and Shropshire Half Iron. I've learnt so much about my body and mind this year it's become an important part of life now.
Warning, next image is a bit grim. This is Valerie drying off after a warm bath and a bit of antibacterial soap. She looked uncomfortable this morning and had poo running down her bum, on closer inspection it looked like she had a soft shell trapped blocking the vent so the next image is what I pulled out of her vent. It's grim work but I don't see how she would have got it out on her own as it was quite adhered to the liner inside. In the cages this could have been her demise, it could easily had led to an infection. This is caused by being selected over hundreds of years to lay an egg every day, it's too much for her older body to do efficiently. The cruelty is built in to the egg laying industry no matter how well cared for or "loved" the hens are individually. #excagedhens #chickens #thesidepeopledonttelyouabout
