The Dama is a ceremony of mourning, a very important ceremony of the worship of the dead among the Dogons.
This ceremony is collective and concerns all those who have died in previous years. Checkers are organized in principle every three years, but this period can be extended to five years. Souls are being called to join the ancestors.

Asafo flags are traditional hand-sewn textiles created by the Fante people of Ghana, used by Asafo military companies to convey messages of strength, leadership, and historical narratives through vibrant colors and symbolic imagery. Originating in the 17th century during interactions with European colonial powers, these flags blend local artistry with influences like the Union Jack to reflect cultural resilience and identity. We are excited to announce that our gallery will be exhibiting a diverse collection of Asafo flags, showcasing their rich history and intricate craftsmanship.

In the heart of Ghanaian culture lies the Akua’ba doll, a symbol of hope, beauty, and fertility. Originating from the Ashanti people, this iconic wooden figure is more than a work of art – it carries profound meaning.
Traditionally, women seeking children would carry the Akua’ba, believing its power could bring blessings of fertility and healthy childbirth. Its unique design – a flat, circular head, slender body, and serene features – embodies ideals of beauty and spiritual strength.
