When I was asked to teach graphic design to a group of teenagers from Makoko and Majidun, I was excited — but also super anxious. Most of these kids had never used a computer before. Some didn’t know how to move a mouse or even open a file. And honestly? It was my first time teaching a class like this. I kept wondering, “How do I even begin?” But over 12 Saturdays, something amazing happened. Through trial and error, patience, laughter, and a lot of encouragement, we figured it out — together. Just a few Saturdays ago, at their exhibition, I stood there listening to them explain their work with confidence and joy, and my heart was full. From curious minds to confident creatives — the growth has been unreal. Testimony, Adekunle, Odunayo, Femi, Chioma, Deborah, Grace, Mesoma, Jennifer, Favour — I’m sooo proud of you all. This program wasn’t just about learning new skills — it was about discovering new sides of themselves. Big love to @nnpclimited , @chevron and the amazing @chessinslums team for making this possible. 🙌🏽 As for me, I’ve learned that design isn’t just about what you make, but what you help others discover in themselves. I’m proud to be a designer who can help stars shine — even from the most unexpected places. 🌍✨ Yes, it’s possible to do great things from small places. 💛

When Design Meets Purpose, History is Made 64 chess squares. 64 relentless hours. A new world record — set by @tunde_onakoya 🇳🇬 and @pushingpawnsnyc 🇵🇷 — and I had the honor of creating the design that now tells this story to the world. From my screen in Lagos to the lights of Times Square, this moment reminds me (and I hope it reminds you too) that creativity is never "small." To every designer out there wondering if their work matters — it does. Your gift is a tool for impact. A spark for movements. A voice for dreams. Keep designing. Keep daring. Keep believing. ✨ Thank you @chessinslums #ItIsPossible #DesignForChange #ChessInSlums #TundeOnakoya #GraphicDesign #TimesSquare #GuinnessWorldRecord #PurposefulDesign #CreativeImpact #HistoryMade #70HoursofChessWithTunde #Chessforeducation #ChessMarathonForChange

This one is from the heart. I always enjoy creating for @chessinslums and when I was required to create designs to honour the transition of members of staff and interns alike, I couldn't help but be proud of each and everyone of them. Well done, @adebukolabenjamin @ainembabazi01 @ayodele.craftsman @atilolaoluwa_olutayo @angeladysr and others I may not be able to mention. I am always proud of you and trust you will do great exploits as you move ahead. . . . #fyp #reelsinstagram #viral #instagramgrowth #explorepage #instagramgrowth #creatorsofnigeria #socialmediamarketing #engagement

Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.” — Psalm 127:4 Today, we officially unveil the logo of Arrows Sport and Education Initiative 🎯 Inspired by this powerful scripture, our identity reflects a clear mission; to nurture, guide, and equip young people to become purposeful, focused, and impactful individuals. Just as arrows are shaped, sharpened, and directed with intention, we are committed to developing the potential of every child through sports and education, giving them the tools, discipline, and direction to thrive. This logo is more than a symbol. It is a reflection of purpose. A call to impact. A commitment to the future. The journey begins here. Design : @amazyn.arts 🧡Want to be part of this journey? February was beautiful. Soft. Purposeful. Full. 🤍 On the 6th, we concluded our @chessinslums after-school program and my heart is still full thinking about it. Watching the children grow in confidence, creativity, and courage reminded me why I do what I do. They showed up. They tried. They improved. They surprised themselves. And I couldn’t be more proud. 🧡 Now we’re marching into March, stronger, wiser, bolder. This design for @_happivibe says it all: The bold orange arches represent movement. Progress. Momentum. The little smiley resting at the top? That’s joy, the reward of growth. The background lines? Life’s journey, not always straight, but always leading somewhere meaningful. New month. New strength. No looking back. March, we’re ready.

I was truly honored to be entrusted with the responsibility of designing the official outfits for our CISA champions as they head into the 2025 Nigeria National Chess Championship @nigeriachess ♟️ Designing for these brilliant young minds meant more than creating a look; it meant telling a story. A story of discipline, resilience, confidence, and hope. Every color choice, line, and detail was thoughtfully crafted to reflect the spirit of Chess in Slums Africa: bold, grounded, and forward-looking. . Seeing these designs come to life on our champions reminds me why design matters; it amplifies purpose. These outfits were designed to make the children feel proud, seen, and ready to take the national stage with confidence. . A heartfelt thank you to Chess in Slums Africa (CISA) @chessinslums for the trust and to Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited @shell for supporting a vision that continues to transform lives through opportunity and excellence. . To our young champions ... wear this with pride. The board is set, the journey continues, and the future is bright. ♟️✨ #ChessInSlumsAfrica #UnveilingRoyaltyInEveryChild #ChessInNigeria #TundeOnakoya

I had the honour of designing the official flyer for The Isalẹ̀ Èkó Chess Dream by @chessinslums , a project rooted in community, history, and hope. . . For this piece, I wanted the floating chessboard to represent how chess elevates young minds beyond their limitations. . . The Lagos skyline anchors the design in the heritage of Isalẹ̀ Èkó, the very foundation of modern Lagos. And the handwritten Isalẹ̀ Èkó logotype brings in the human story: personal, expressive, and full of possibility. . . This project isn’t just about chess. It’s about giving overlooked children the space to imagine a future far bigger than their circumstances. . . Grateful to have contributed visually to something this meaningful. . . #IsaleEkoChessDreamProject #ChessInSlumsAfrica #AmazynArts #DesignForImpact #PurposeDrivenDesign

There’s something special about watching curiosity come alive. 💻✨ Every question, every smile, every brave hand raised reminds me that learning isn’t just about technology, it’s about confidence, connection, and joy. From talking about operating systems and applications to giggling over what Artificial Intelligence really means, these kids made the classroom feel like home. Grateful to the @chessinslums After-school Program, proudly sponsored by @themidenhq , for creating spaces where children can dream, learn, and build the future, one click at a time. 🤍 Videography by @amazyn.arts Video shooting by @fawaz_adeoye and @heyeehorla_abdool #chessinslumsafrica #unveilingroyaltyineverychild #midenxchessinslumsafrica #amazynarts #tundeonakoya #chessinpublicschools #chessinnigeria
