It's hard to talk about maps without mentioning our favorite, which shows A Man Full of Trouble in the lower left corner. Every other building referenced on this map was removed in the Great Demolition of 1960. Some of the streets too.
One thing I like about old maps is discovering things that are gone. In this little corner of the City, Gatzmer and Granite Streets have disappeared and Sansom Street is Sansom Walk now. Ionic and Hancock Streets have hung on somehow, but just barely.
What we call A Man Full of Trouble is actually two buildings. The Paschall House adjoined the tavern for over 200 years, before the two were united in 1961.
