Working on a new diptych. Building up the mixed media surface…. Finding the rhythm of the painting. Do you feel the open expansive space??? #artforsale #contemporarypainter #abstract #losangelesart
Spring has sprung. New painting in the works. Green and lavender and pink uplift me and make me feel hopeful. Couldn t we all use a bit of HOPE right now. #abstract #expression #artforsale
New painting in my studio in Los Angeles. This one began on the floor and then moved to the wall. Always a process of discovery that requires patience and a willingness to hang out in the unknown. #abstract #contemporarypainter #expressionistart
Finishing up a new diptych….finishing up a journey. I started this painting on the floor… with thin washes of color. Acrylic and oil. My painting process is one of discovery. Trial and error. Call and response. Listening and responding. I never know what the outcome will be. That is part of what keeps me engaged….
What is the title???? Dm for inquiries #artforsale #expressionism
More photos from my amazing trip in kenya. Going back as an adult … six decades later… gave me the opportunity to tap into and revisit the feeling of expansion and freedom and wide open spaces that I had experienced as a child and which I am convinced gave me the desire to paint as a young adult. I ve always wanted to recreate those feelings on the canvas. #safari #kenyaphotography #artofinstagram
More photos from my epic trip back to Kenya!! It was perfect…. The accommodations , the animals, and most especially the beautiful Kenyans… who treated us with such love and generosity. I lived there for four years as a child in the 60 s and had a chance to go back to the village I lived in and the school I went to in Nairobi. And …. I got to gallop across the fields…..in the country where I learned to ride horses as a five year old. It was a beautiful full circle moment.
I had the great good fortune to live with my family in a small village outside of Nairobi , Kenya… for 4 years in the 60 s. It had a profound effect on me. The big sky and the wide open spaces made an indelible impression on me. I finally had the opportunity to go back in February and Kenya did not disappoint. I was on safari for 11 days and we lucked out. We saw everything we had hoped to see…. And then some.
Putting the finishing touches on my painting “LAGOON”…. Mixed media 77x 55. Subtle shifts of cerulean, turquoise, emerald, cobalt, and sapphire echo the play of light across water and the ever- changing moods of the sea. Excited that she is going over to @houseofcoda in venice. Come visit. Beautiful design, furniture and art house. 360 sunset ave.. venice ca.
