Hard putting this one into words! To start with, I didn’t buy wolf tags in Idaho for some dumb reason! Luckily you can use your nonresident elk and or deer tag on wolves. I’ve always wanted to shoot a wolf, but to get a double on a solo hunt in some of the most rugged country I’ve ever been in was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, I am now down a elk and deer tag for the season 🤣 Huge shoutout to @avery_adventures for the tip on where to go! #wolfhunting #wolves🐺 #idaho #longrangehunting #hunting #predatormanagement #elkhunting #rokslide #leupoldoptics #leupoldcore #xlrindustries #wolf

Caught this old gal out on the prowl the other evening… We are overrun with big cats in our area, but it seems like opportunities come when we least expect it! Stay vigilant!

We had one of the best deer seasons ever this year, and I thought Max’s hunt was going to be the “grand finale,” but when he killed on opening day I realized there was still a week of late archery season I could catch back home. My first 4 days of hunting I found several decent bucks, blew multiple stalks, broke my Tacoma, and went home for Thanksgiving with my tail tucked. The day after Thanksgiving I headed back in my bald-tire Chevy, knowing I couldn’t hunt any of the high country I’d been in earlier. I dropped into a lower-elevation area I’d seen deer in before, and this was the second buck I glassed up — I about crapped my pants. There wasn’t enough light left in the day for a stalk, but the next morning I found myself just underneath him at first light. Things got a little western after the shot and the buck ended up falling over 500 feet down the mountain. My stomach was in knots hiking down to him, and I was amazed to find the only real damage was about two inches of kicker missing. To kill a buck like this on a general tag in my home state shocked me, to say the least. You just never know where a big one might show up.

I think “bad yardage” cost people WAY more points in NRL matches than they realize, I see it at every match! With the BX-6 I’m actually able to range the target, instead of just something near it… #leupoldoptics

Ever had a release drastically change your point of impact? I’m back dialed with my backups backup, but was surprised to see how much it had shifted. I know I said I was done for the season, but 2 days left on a tag I’ve filled once in 20 years? (I like those odds)🤣
