We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again and again and again: Shop Local! Shop Small!
Small businesses aren’t just economic drivers — they’re the heartbeat of our neighborhoods and communities.
This #NationalSmallBusinessWeek, we’re celebrating the entrepreneurs across California, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Texas who are building something bigger than themselves.
When you shop at local small businesses, roughly 67% of every dollar you spend stays in your local community!
It may seem cliché to say that small businesses are the backbone of the U.S. economy, but the data backs it up time and time again.
* From 2023 to 2024, small businesses created approximately 9 out of every 10 net new jobs in America.
* Small businesses produce 16 times more patents per employee than larger firms — making them a disproportionate engine of American innovation.
* There are 36.2 million small businesses in the U.S., accounting for nearly 46% of all private-sector employment.
Cheers to all the entrepreneurs and small businesses we’ve had the honor of working with. And cheers to many more years of community impact! 💙 💚#NSBW2026
🥦🧡 Proud to spend the day with @kanbesmarkets sorting fresh produce that would've otherwise gone to waste, so Kansas City neighbors can have access to affordable, quality food.
Every pound of rescued produce is a step toward a stronger, more connected food system right here in our city.

For most of us, Earth Month is a moment to reflect. For these 17 small businesses and nonprofits, it’s just another day at work.
Across our service area — from Kansas City to Los Angeles — these business owners are reducing waste, growing local food, rethinking energy, and reimagining what a sustainable community can look like. They’re not waiting for change. They’re building it.
We’re proud to work alongside each of them. Swipe to meet them, and we hope you consider them the next time you’re shopping!

For 20 years, a historic Kansas City landmark sat vacant — nearly lost to the wrecking ball. Today, the Linwood Area Ministry Place (LAMP) is home to many nonprofits serving hundreds of families across Kansas City.
That transformation didn't happen by accident. It took a 20-year campaign, an $11M renovation, and $9.85M in New Markets Tax Credits facilitated by AltCap and Central Bank of Kansas City.
NMTC financing exists to do exactly this — break cycles of disinvestment and bring catalytic capital to the communities that need it most. LAMP is proof that it works.

Part 2/2: We’re back with more baby photos — because one post wasn’t enough to hold all this talent. 🍼
These are the faces (circa way back when) behind every community event, every loan closed, every entrepreneur supported, and every community invested in.
