This is such a stunning board to work on. This one is part of Leicester's History in the Framework Knitting Industry and goes back to 1745. Such an honour to have the opportunity to work on such historic boards like these. 2 names and dates added this time around, hand painted and gilded in 23.5ct gold, with drop shadows.

Hall has been the venue for numerous memorable nights out seeing bands
over the years.
So being asked to hand paint all the back stage walls a while ago was a
total honour.

Every time I have the honour to come to add to these boards I end up getting lost studying some of the old work.
Most of these original boards contain the work done by countless past Signwriters and Sign Painters.
Just love to see the personal styles back then! ...each one is just slightly different and unique to each Signwriter who worked on them.
There was also little worry about size or spacing on some of these early boards, nowadays a lot of them are becoming full up so the lettering has tended to go down a few points in size on the newer boards.
Love doing them I must say, and just glad I'm not too fussed about heights...then again, some of these can give you the 'wobbles' if you're not careful!!😅
