We’ve been getting a few questions about the event rebrand... and we get it.
When something has such a strong legacy, people want to know what’s changing and why.
We’re still the same community-led ALS walk and run events you know and love. Betty’s Run for ALS and Walk Together for ALS are still here, and beginning in 2026, they’re united under one inclusive, province-wide identity: Side by Side for ALS.
We made this change to keep the heart of the events intact while making it less confusing, easier to recognize, and easier to grow together across Alberta.
Same heart. Same support. Same community.

We are honoured to recognize a transformational $1 million gift to AARN to advance ALS research and clinical trial capacity across Alberta.
This investment strengthens Alberta’s ALS research ecosystem by expanding clinical trial coordination in Calgary and Edmonton, supporting the next phase of CAPTURE ALS, and establishing a new AARN research award to accelerate innovative work.
We are grateful for the generosity that makes this momentum possible and for the belief that research should be connected to the community it serves.
To the donors and families who choose to invest in ALS research, thank you.
Your support helps move this work forward.

Applications for the Debi Lefaivre ALS Youth Champions Fund close this Wednesday, May 20! This program provides funding to children and youth in Alberta who have or have had a parent, guardian, or loved one affected by ALS - specifically for programs and activities that they may not otherwise be able to afford due to the immense financial strain of the disease. ALS already takes so much, we don't want it to also take youth and childhood experiences away. Apply today using the link in our bio.
