I first came across Harsh’s work three years ago and it immediately struck me.
It felt like a really fresh language to come out of the Indian art landscape drawing on mystic, other-worldly references, speaking to the unknown without feeling removed from the present.
With Almost Gods, there has always been this idea to treat India as foundation, not as boundary. I felt an instant kinship there. The references and mediums were different but it really felt like we were both trying to achieve the same thing with our practices.
Around that time, I was fortunate enough to pick up two of his earlier works. That relationship — fan first, collaborator later — is what made coming together to create work feel meaningful.
There’s something special, almost reassuring, when you’re building your world and see someone else building theirs — and the two seem to speak to one another. It’s taken us almost 2 years to make this collaboration happen and I’m so happy you guys get to witness an output that’s very close to my heart.

P.S.- Harsh’s show is on at the Dhanmill store until the 15th. If you haven’t had a chance to see it, I’d strongly recommend checking it out. I think he’s made something very special
Join us at Gallery XXL for 𝕎𝕙𝕖𝕟 𝕄𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕒𝕝𝕤 ℝ𝕖𝕞𝕖𝕞𝕓𝕖𝕣, a conversation featuring artists Jumu and Harsh Nambiar, Almost Gods Founder and Creative Director Dhruv Khurana (@almostdhruv ), and Gallery XXL curator Sarah Malik (@sarahsmalik ).
This conversation explores the memories embedded within materials and the ways culture is transmitted through tangible forms. Moving across art, design, and creative practice, the speakers will reflect on how materiality opens portals to cultural resilience, world-building, and the politics of belonging.
Drawing from their multidisciplinary practices, Jumu (@jumumonster ), Harsh (@hrnambiar ), and Dhruv will trace how symbols, colours, and materials intersect to construct worlds rooted in lived histories, inherited narratives, and imagined pasts, revealing how we reconcile with these histories in the present.

My top books of the year (in no particular order)
1. Atlas Shrugged- Doesn’t hold a candle to Fountainhead (one of the all time greatest works imo) but still blows most books out of the water
2. 7 Reece Mews- Basically a photo book exploring Francis Bacon’s studio but left an indelible mark on me. Been thinking about the visuals from this all year
3. Bird by Bird- Recommended by Riya. A book primarily for writers but fantastic life advice overall. When things get too crazy- a fantastic reminder to take things bird by bird.
4. Into the Wild- I wish I had read this a decade earlier. Such an important true story that captures this raw and insanely human feeling to leave it all behind and run into the woods. Alexander Supertramp forever.
5. 2666- Honestly picked this up because of the cover art but goddamn incredible. One of the strangest wildest and toughest reads of my life.
6. Jade City- Just a solid easy fantasy book that feels like a Hong Kong gangster flick. Reminded me of sleeping dogs (one of the best games of all time ftw)
#ELLEFashionSpeaks: It’s one of those fierce Mumbai afternoons when even your clothes feel tired. Inside the Almost Gods store, though, it’s another world. Before I can even start my recorder, Dhruv Khurana — the brand’s creative director, appears with a big grin and a bag of cookies for me and my team. “I got cookies for you guys,” he insists cheerfully. That pretty much sets the tone for the next hour: fast-paced, sharp, yet easy. He’s fun to be around — warm, witty, and refreshingly clued in. But when it comes to fashion, you can tell he knows exactly what he’s talking about. Head to 🔗 in bio to read more

This past summer I spent some time in Iceland. Driving through its barren, volcano-scarred landscapes felt like being dropped into another world shaped by myth, scale, and silence. That feeling of immersion, of being placed fully inside a world, is something l’ve always wanted to create with Almost Gods.
It’s about more than referencing symbols. It’s about building them into the work itself, craft that ties product to place, to the environment, to something larger. Not just aesthetics pulled from faraway ideas, but processes rooted in the land: volcano dyeing, bark cloth - materials that don’t just depict the world but come from it.
Almost Gods has always been in conversation with power, drawn from the past or imagined pasts. Our next collections go deeper into these worlds. Not surface-level storytelling, but products shaped with the weight and texture of the places and ideas they come from.

Gurjeet and I have been excited about each other’s work for a while. Having met at IAF last year, we started talking about making something together, and now, a year later, I’m really excited to see this come to life.
Gurjeet has created a soft sculpture using Almost Gods scrap fabrics and prints. The piece will be available with Chemould Colab at India Art Fair, from 6th-9th Feb.
Come check it out :)
