I painted 146 individual artworks just to create a few seconds of animation. Heres the workflow:
Tom gave me a video and some photographs he wanted to include into the music visualizer, so I created a styleboard around these colors, defining a high contrast colorpalette and wavy shapes that match the title of the song „gamma waves“. We wanted custom, handwritten typography for the hook, so I tested different pens and styles before deciding on a soft brush pen. Here’s what it looks like after sequencing it in After Effects.
For the illustration, I mixed lots of different techniques like oil pastells, gel liners, crayons and carving tools. And after scanning and sequencing the drawings – I put all three elements together digitally in Adobe After Effects.
