One of my first thoughts as I woke up yesterday was that I am just glad I am an artist. I couldn't put any more words to it than that... I went to class where we talked and discussed what it means to be an artist and maker in the midst of times like these. And I still just felt strange, like in a daze.
It wasn't until I actually started making this work later in the day that I felt some normalcy. A studio mate made a comment about how any work we made would be made on the day Trump was elected president, as if it'd be tainted. But I will always remember that I didn't let it stop me. In defiance of all things Trump and what his campaign has stood for, I will not stop.
As artists, we have a way to work through our problems that others do not. We are makers, and we make beautiful things to brighten the world. #dontstopmaking #makersgonnamake #bitsandpieces #ceramicsculpture
