Let's show where I get some of my flowers, shall we? And let's do some nomenclature for the horticulture nerds out there (like me!)
I go foraging and gathering about twice a week for my pressings so I might do more of these foraging diaries so you can see what my flowers look like before they get turned into the art you see online!
So many thanks to @alluringblooms for letting me harvest from her garden! She's amazing and very good at what she does and grows so much for her work, if you need a florist in the Madison area I definitely recommend her.
Follow along for more ramblings of botany (don't worry I also do the pressing type of rambling too).
It was a beautiful, flower filled week in the studio!
Designing with these tulips and ranunculus has me itching for my own garden blooms to cut. Only 26 days until spring!
In the meantime, I'm busy starting seeds, presprouting anemones + ranunculus and dividing the last of the dahlias. Garden season will be here before we know it.
A little glimpse into what has been happening in the studio this late summer season.
Zinnias and dahlias are at their peak right now, and the hydrangea that brought us this house (and my sanctuary of a garden) are looking lovely as well. The astrantia just keeps on pumping out stems too. I'm soaking in every moment of beauty.
Off to go make arrangements for tomorrow's Badger football game! Have a great weekend.
There are some special ones in here, swipe so you don’t miss them!
Small weddings at the Capitol followed by a dinner celebration nearby in downtown Madison are becoming some of my favorite wedding days to photograph. With a smaller guest count, the day feels much more intimate and intentional and allows the couple to really connect with each other and their closest friends and family members that spend the day with them. Kenzie + Ish wanted their day to feel similar to a big wedding but with a more intimate feel, and they definitely succeeded. I spent the whole day with them, from getting ready at the AC hotel, to their wedding ceremony in the rotunda at the Wisconsin Capitol followed by a private dinner with their 15 guests at Eno Vino. After dinner, they cut their heart shaped Lambeth cake (yes, fun fact: those intricately piped currently trendy cakes are historically called Lambeth cakes), listened to speeches from their maid of honor, best man, and the bride’s dad, and ended the evening with their first dance and delicious cocktails as a gorgeous sunset blanketed the city.
If you are planning a small wedding at the Capitol, please reach out! Along with photographing them, I can help with logistics planning to make your day stress-free and special.

Some days are for leftover wedding flowers and bright garden clippings.
Today was one of those days 🩷🧡💛
'Barista' and 'Mandarin X-pression' roses from @clickflowersusa , 'Chimo' and 'Azore' imported roses from @holexusa (all from M&K's big day), the most lovely 'Coral Fountains' hanging amaranthus from @rusticrootsflowerfarm , a spectacular single 'Chateau de la Bourdaisiere' dahlia and 'KA's Mocha Katie' dahlias from @lavishlaneflowerco stealing the show, along with a bunch of random garden clippings from the yard this afternoon including 'KA's Rosie Jo', 'Sandia Brocade' and 'Copper Boy' dahlias, strawflower and 'Gold Flame' lonicera honeysuckle.
It's martagon lily season!
I absolutely LOVE these delicate, pendulous blooms. This particular variety is called 'Fairy Morning'. I can't think of a more perfect name for a bloom in my garden!
Still absolutely loving the flower tower trend. They make such a great impact and are so fun to design.
This set up was created for Ashley @ashandandersphotography for her annual Motherhood event a few weeks ago. I was absolutely astounded at the level of care and attention to detail she has for her clients! If you're looking for a newborn photographer in Madison, she's a 10.
An ode to my best boy, Winston, who always brings a smile to my face (if you order flowers from me, it's 99% likely Winston has given your arrangement the sniff of approval)... and to lisianthus of seasons past.
I say "lisianthus of seasons past", because this year EVERY single lisianthus I planted died. RIP plant babies.
Can't win them all.
Waiting for this rain to pass so I can finally finish up planting the rainbow garden!
The rainbow dahlias are all already planted, but I still have other annuals that need to get tucked in.
I see a weekend of planting in my future!

My days lately are filled with dahlia tubers.
While I love the spring blooms, I'm secretly counting down the days until these beauties are in season once again!

Pocket bouts seem to be here to stay, and I absolutely love it. J's pocket bout was a lovely mix of colors to perfectly compliment A's absolutely STUNNING gown (swipe to see this beautiful bride!)
I look at each bout as a little piece of art. I save little bits here and there, never knowing what small wonders I'll decide to tuck in as I create. They are some of my favorite things to make.
