As my graduation approaches from Community Violence intervention Leadership Academy, (CVILA) Powered by @uchicago , I have to to take minute to reflect and give thanks. @cindybassphilly and @phlcouncilpresident , this journey has been supported by you both, and I’m extremely thankful to work in a city where leadership reflects the experiences, and passions of not only the residents of this city, but also the employees of it. My goal was to take an idea that we had in the office of @cindybassphilly ,”Playing It Safe in the 8th,” and transform it into a proven, data informed, concrete, and evidence based plan. With the guidance of leaders such as @drchicotill @marcusmcall and the leadership team at CVILA, and my classmates 22 leaders from all across this country. I believe that goal was accomplished. The next goal is to implement these plans within the city of Philadelphia. In simple terms, the goal is to transform our recreation centers into CVI hubs, ( safe spaces) where children, and community members can truly experience the feeling of safety. #cvi #safety #live
