Final installment for semester 2!!
Here's my artist statement as well incase anyone cares for an explanation on the work :)
I am a mixed media artist working with collage, sculpture, natural materials, and the natural world itself. My practice functions as an ongoing process of navigating mental health while seeking connection with nature. Themes of discovery, longing, connection, and direction run throughout, influencing the recurring motifs within my work.
Through installation, I invite viewers into an immersive headspace, offering multiple points of interpretation and engagement. My work acts as a form of communication, translating spiritual, emotional, and sensory experience into tangible form, developed through intuitive writing and the exploration of outdoor environments. By collecting found materials, I engrain myself within the landscape, engaging with ancient practices such as foraging. Through repurposing and transformation, I create artifacts that hold a sense of curiosity and subtle significance.
For this project, I followed my natural process, gathering organic resources alongside photographic documentation of the landscapes I have explored. I allow materials to guide the direction of each piece, responding to their texture, form, and context. The process draws from fluid personal and emotional experiences throughout making, as well as ancient Scottish practices, rituals, and visual culture—grounding the work in both introspection and tradition.
Through immersive mixed media installations, I aim to create intimate encounters that invite viewers to slow down, reflect, and access a sense of hidden magic—opening new ways of seeing and feeling within both natural and internal worlds.
