This is what we call a flute with history ⏳ This pre-owned handmade silver Landell flute dates from 1974 and was originally made for Edward Beckett, a colleague of the legendary flautist William Bennett. According to the records, it was built to A=442, Bennett/Cooper scale, using sterling silver throughout and .014" wall tubing. Jonathon Landell played an important role in the development of modern American flute making. While apprenticing at Powell Flutes and later working with figures such as William Bennett and Albert Cooper, he created the first Cooper scale flute in the United States in 1972. This flute comes from that fascinating early period of his work, before he formally established his Vermont workshop in 1976. It is fitted with an Andrew Oxley silver headjoint which offers a lovely connection to British flute making. Oxley began producing headjoints in 1976 and has since made over 1,500 of them in a wide range of materials. Specifications include: inline G, C footjoint, sterling silver body and mechanism, Oxley silver headjoint, A=442, and .014" wall tubing.
