Thinking about converting your overhead electrical service to underground?
Here’s the reality — it’s not just one step.
There are a few key things to understand before getting started:
• Whether you actually need it or if it’s optional
• Costs from FPL, permits, materials, and labor
• Site conditions like pole access and trenching
• A timeline that can take around 2 months in a smooth scenario
This type of project involves coordination between homeowners, contractors, and FPL — and planning ahead makes a big difference.
Still got questions?
If you’re considering converting your overhead service to underground and want help understanding your options, we’re happy to guide you through the process.
We break it all down step-by-step on our Electrical Resources blog to help you know what to expect before getting started.

If your home has this panel, it may not protect you when it should. ⚡
Before ➡️ After
This project included replacing an FPE (Federal Pacific Electric) panel, which has been recalled and is known for not tripping properly — creating potential safety risks.
We also upgraded the meter to meet current code requirements, including installing a main disconnect outside, allowing power to be safely shut off in case of an emergency.
So proud of Cal and the work he put into this one — making homes safer is always the goal.
If you’re not sure what kind of panel you have, we’re happy to take a look and answer any questions ⚡

If your breaker keeps tripping, this might be why ⚡
That kettle alone can use 1,200–1,500 watts. Now imagine it running at the same time as your microwave, toaster, coffee maker, or space heater — especially if they’re on the same line.
Breakers don’t trip randomly. They trip because something is demanding more power than that line can safely handle.
If this happens frequently in your home, it could mean:
• Too many appliances share one line
• Your electrical panel is maxed out
• Worn-out outlets
• Loose wiring connections
These are signs your system may need attention — not just another reset.
Ways to improve this:
✅ Add dedicated circuits for high-demand appliances
✅ Upgrade kitchen or laundry circuits
✅ Evaluate your home’s electrical load
✅ Consider a panel upgrade if capacity is limited
✅ Replace old or worn outlets
If breakers are tripping regularly, it’s worth checking before it becomes a bigger issue.
We’re happy to help you understand your home’s electrical load ⚡

⚡ Want a smarter home — without tearing open walls or spending thousands?
Smart home technology is moving fast, and it can feel overwhelming.
But here’s what I tell homeowners in Brevard County all the time:
You don’t need a full remodel or a high-end system to upgrade your home.
Some of the easiest upgrades that make a big difference:
• Smart switches like Lutron Caseta — add control without opening walls
• Smart bulbs — timers, color options, and no more coming home to a dark house
• Smart outlets — great for holidays or outdoor lighting
• Permanent outdoor LED lighting — adds function and curb appeal year-round
Most of these are simple installs and can be added one step at a time.
Not sure where to start? Start small.
We share more practical tips like this on our Electrical Resources blog to help Brevard County homeowners stay informed.
