I want to dedicate this moment to my grandfather. A black man from Memphis, TN, a veteran, and one of the first people to put an instrument in my hand. I used to watch football with him every day growing up and now I’m playing violin at the Super Bowl! What an honor to play Lift Every Voice and Sing during BLACK HISTORY MONTH!!! I'm proud to be a black woman and a black musician. I represented us on a world stage. I’m just a kid from Sacramento so it means everything to experience this back in NorCal.
