Three candle holders that I have recently finished, all made with different clays and glazes. These will probably be the last candle holders I make for a while as i’m going to spend a bit of focused time on non functional sculptures. I’m excited for what’s to come! Watch this space ✨ #ceramics #art #design

New work! Finally! Choosing to spotlight this gorgeous jug that I intend to display as a vase. I’m obsessed with the way the oxide has crackled like it wants to peel but can’t because of the glaze. Will be making more! Stay tuned for the rest of my kiln haul xx #ceramics #art #pottery #artist

A few photos from a wonderful set I made for @yasminsuteja earlier this year, facilitated by @ivyrconsulting . Yasmin asked for a set of ceramics to use in her everyday life that had a clean, sleek aesthetic. I made a variety of pieces to choose from so Yasmin was able to choose which pieces best fit into her life. These pieces are a selection of the works I made for this commission, taken on my film camera in my backyard studio. It was a pleasure working on this project and I am so happy with the results! Would love to work on more projects like this in the future xx #ceramics #artist #homewares #handmade

This is a sculpture I made last year. It has been finished for quite a while but I wanted to spend some time with it before I shared it with the world. I wanted to make something I could hold close to my body for comfort. The form is very organ-like to me, fitting perfectly when I cuddle it to my belly. The surface is wonderfully smooth and the surface dimpled which I find very soothing. All features considered to make the holder feel as calm as possible. I have a strange maternal feeling towards this sculpture, maybe that’s because I hold it to my stomach or maybe because I made it with the intention to keep it for myself. It’s not a feeling i’ve had towards previous work, i’m usually pretty unsentimental so it was unexpected. I took it to the beach a while back and let it live amongst the rocks for a bit. It blends into the nature found by the ocean, a place I spent much of my time growing up. It feels good to share my work along with its back story, I appreciate you for reading. Love you all xx ‘Hold’ 2025 Stoneware clay, glaze and oxide

A L K A M I - P O I S E @alkamipoise Artist portrait of ceramicist Maddi O'Kane at her West Melbourne flat. Maddi is fascinated by movement, stemming from her time as a dancer and a childhood spent by the beach. She creates sculptures which capture the beauty of her relationship with movement and nature around her. . . . . . . #melbourneartist #melbourneportait #artistsofmelbourne #ceramicist
