Happy Mother’s Day to my wonderful mom, who took me into the woods right away and even dressed me in yellow.

Lovely Saturday skiing Adams, followed by me opening @analisaprice ’s clever ski rack wrong and smacking myself in the face. So now I have my first-ever black eye. I can’t believe my Backlands would hurt me like this.

I don’t think I’ve been back to Vesper Peak since reporting a story about a missing hiker there. Still stunning (even if the snow was a lil’ soft). Highest quality photos from @sarahsscience @mountaineer_buckeye and @alicia684 !

I stopped posting on Instagram and promptly began forgetting what I did and when. Gonna try to start again if only to share conditions. First up: Nisqually Chutes on Saturday, which was Chickenhead City but nice down below. Plus a classic Parking Lot Party and a bonus hang with the Nordic Patrol folks down in Longmire!

Congratulations, Patrick and Alex! They threw a spectacular wedding and I got to see so many of my favorite people. We came, we cried, we danced. Shout out to Jimmy for many of these lovely photos.

Last year, I was commissioned to create very special portrait for a sad occasion. Omak, the beloved dog of @aliwill12 was taken too soon, due to a fast-acting cancer. He was in the prime of his life, an inseparable companion who accompanied Allison on all her outdoor adventures. His sudden illness and passing were a tragic shock not only to Allison, but to everyone who in her life. Her colleagues at @seattlemet reached out to me about creating this portrait as a gift to Allison to honor Omak’s memory and all the adventures they shared together. As anyone who has experienced the loss of a pet can attest, the grief is a very specific and often downplayed, so I was honored to be trusted with this project.

Last Ali beer at KJs bar. The end of an era (well, the second era) at Capitol Hill’s unassuming local hang. Might just stay in touch with a few of the weirdos I met there. ❤️

Three years! ❤️ Celebrating by watching the Kraken lose 0-3. Maybe try the opposite next year, buddies.
