Ghostlore of Britain's 'The Holy Sickness & The Boundless Majesty' is now shipping ✨ Thank you to @_sarahrosamond_ and @zoltar_kieron for the beautiful album 🤍 Since 2020 Ghostlore of Britian (Kieron Livingstone & Sarah Hartnett) have been performing musical vibrations and meditations to break through the veiling power of Maya and self perpetuating control mechanisms. They undertake psychic quests as their methodology for music making, traversing the landscape as an embodied pursuit to unearth a complex politics of memory. Through subtle esoteric technology and words of worship they seek to reveal the divine spark within. Ghostlore's musical work spans the realms of folk, drone, and UK dance music, melding these recognisable motifs with overlaid choral vocals. Within the live performances, the rhythms of the music matches the rhythms of the visuals and the lights accompany the performance as activated devices of (dis)orientation. Their investigarions and experiences across the psychic and embodied landscape in the South of England have informed the basis of Ghostlore's music and films, which generated their debut mixtape with Ormside Projects radio from which The Changing of the Guard EP was released on Xquisite Releases in 2021. Their second release 'The Holy Sickness & The Boundless Majesty' premiered at Camden Arts Centre in August 2023. This summer, Ghostlore of Britain will be on residency at The Eranos Foundation in Locarno, Switzerland with the painter Lucy Stein developing sound work for an installation and performance at Museo Casa Rusca opening in August 2024.

Due out on July 12th, on CD with booklet and on digital, pre-order via link in bio 🔥 'The Holy Sickness & The Boundless Majesty is an album made from Ghostlore of Britain’s experience of traversing the Sussex landscape, undertaking a psychic drift to unearth interconnected histories, memories and premonitions. It spans the sounds of traditional folk, hypnotic drone and bass heavy UK dance music, interwoven with field recordings and samples, TB-303, harp and guitar. Ghostlore chose Sussex as the scene of their second drift as it is where Kieron and Sarah respectively spent their formative years. Further, the deaths of three people in 2022 connected to Sussex who were significant to them both, one of which was Sarah’s father, prompted an urgent investigation into the geographical, personal and psychic ties to the county. The journey began in a 19th Century sandstone mine, a cave close to Chanctonbury Ring. Sounds of groaning and groping are overlaid in the dark. The cave is where you are truly alone in the void. Hopeful choral vocals emerge from the depths; light within the darkness of psychic suffering. Reworked sampling of a church organ accompanies Sarah’s voice, redolent of the sounds of Christian faith, its churches interlaced into the Sussex countryside. Ghostlore’s secret recordings of chants in the monastic lay commune synchronise with synthetic drums and samples, the rhythm punctured by a reconstructed 'carynx'. Spurred on by marching drums and sub bass echoing from the parties held on the South Downs - it's how a spectral Iron Age battle might sound if made on a laptop. Ghostlore’s investigations into parapolitics, espionage, and polarised modern cults seek to reveal layers of reality within the experience of place whilst allowing a formative spiritual attachment to occur. The battle is outside and therefore within. As such, this album is not only an attempt at a personal transformative journey from darkness into the light but also an examination of landscape mysticism for the sake of demystification'

Excited to share the next release on Alien Jams - An album by Greek/ UK based artist Viki Steiri called 'Balm' due out on March 15th 🤍 Now up for pre-order on Bandcamp, link in bio! 'A powerful debut, anchored by ritualistic, monolithic cello layers. Steiri combines Badalamentian soundscapes with electronic dance rhythms, synth- tinged folk songs from Istanbul, alongside reworked cello and santur improvisations.' She is a member of improvised music/art group Ectopia ('life/section,' 2017, Wysing Polyphonic) and has collaborated with artists on releases such as 'sex robot' (with Sidsel Meineche Hansen, 2019, self-released) and 'Future Chorus' (with Eleni Ikoniadou, 2023, Maenads/ Hypermedium)

Egg Meat is a new project from London based artists Tooth Rust aka Laurel Uziell @upper_crust_punk and @georgiemcvicar , their self-titled EP features poems spoken by Danny Hayward. THIS IS NOT A SPOKEN WORD TAPE. Though the voice at its ultimate origin emanates from the vocal folds resonating inside the throat of the poet Danny Hayward, the source of such rarefactions does not mean that some relation of identity can be drawn between the speaker, the sounds, and their segmentation into words. Maybe the words are spoken, but they do not speak: chopped and screwed and slopped and crude, worms writ(h)ing themselves through the loam, at times surfacing as meaningful utterances, at others buried under dense sonic matter.

Artwork by Owen Lewis @zombies_armpit Mastering by Rupert Clervaux The EP features speech-jammed text skittering across insistent rhythms, clipped signals and buzzing, saturated grains. You hear the racket of gunshots, mechanical clutter and punctuating tones that ring out impatiently like an unanswered phone call. Hayward's words at times surfacing as meaningful utterances, at others buried under this dense sonic matter. The manipulations of voice are also at times so extreme as to render them indistinguishable from the clattering electronics that engulf them. The speech shapeshifts, shudders, and shatters in the way a violin glides and trills above an orchestra. The EP ends with an ambiguous promise: "Don't worry", Hayward assures us, "we'll be back."
