Kessandrium runs at 140 BPM — fast on paper, but the 3/4 clap shifts the perception, pulling the groove slightly off-axis. It breathes inside the speed.
The rhythmic core starts with Acid Rain Constellation feeding Schlappi Nibbler. Gates and CVs hit multiple inputs, generating logic-derived sub-rhythms. I flip switches live to reshape trigger density and alter rhythmic probability. Almost everything in the patch cascades from Nibbler’s rhythmic mutations — bass, chords, modulation clocks — all rhythmically entangled.
Bass and harmonic layers come from an Alia Noise Engineering voice, heavily modulated. Distortion, animated filtering, and aggressive CV movement define the texture. Density is rhythm-driven, but sculpted with sample & hold across key CV paths, especially filter domains.
A derivative rhythm feeds Make Noise multi-wave for chord generation, routed into Q-PAS. Low-pass stays dry and punchy. High-pass runs through Ali Trifecta — reverb and granular via the CERN preset — adding spatial fragmentation. Q-PAS receives heavy S&H modulation for shifting spectral movement.
Lead voice: gritty, 8-bit, unstable. Built from the Xaoc Devices Leibniz system. V/Oct into Berlin → Jena wavetable lookup → Rostock micro-delay. Behind that, Lipsk and Erfurt intermodulate, bit-masking each other. A Schlappi clock hits Erfurt, which gates Lipsk — bits switching on/off in rhythm, producing stepped, almost sample-and-hold digital artifacts.
Additional rhythmic modulation flows from Steady State Fate Ultra-Perc and Metalloid — fast, reactive, percussive CV motion everywhere.
Pamela’s probability controls the master clocks feeding Constellation and Schlappi. I can thin the pattern, break it down, rebuild density, stretch tension, collapse it back into impact.
Kessandrium is modulation-heavy, rhythm-derived architecture. Fast grid, warped feel. Controlled chaos with deliberate funk.
*Esu’s Trifecta Firmware v1.18 Beta*
We’re looking for Esu’s Trifecta users interested in beta testing firmware v1.18. If you’d like to participate, join our Discord server and message Chris or Jamar to receive the beta file. The Discord link is in our bio.
v1.18 introduces major upgrades to modulation, timing, and performance.
• Selectable PPQN: 1, 4, 8, 12, 24, 48
• New Macro Knobs — control multiple parameters with one knob
• Modulation Scaling & Offset with visual meters
• New effects: uLoop (Microlooper) and Studder (Glitch / Beat Repeat)
There's SOOOO much to love about this patch.
We've have Four Seas from @ferryislandmodular providing great modulated wavetable sounds which across the 4 outputs are pitch spread providing two discrete stereo paths to work with.
One stereo chain going into the @mehrmusicmachines DEUXD giving us crunchy cross filter FM, stereo low pass control and rhythmic modulation from some decay envelopes.
The other chain goes into the @makenoisemusic Optomix for rhythmic striking and manual level/tone sweeps and that feeds the FANTASTIC Professor X delay in Esu's Trifecta from @ali.modular
The combo of dual stereo chains, different envelopes, DivSkip probability triggers firing things in stereo, ochd modulating the waveforms and the great stereo multi head delay from Professor X ... chefs kiss! Love it.
For the Four Seas demo that this is from things got serious and we went DOUBLE DATA @mordaxsystems here it's visualising the XY lissajous 2D curves from each stereo wavetable pair. I could (and have) watch these shapes for hours.
Check out all the mentioned modules, I've been having loads of fun with them all for some time now. We're posting this today for #fourseasfriday with @ferryislandmodular - follow them for more.

TRIFECT
New patch sketch, early explorations — but already alive.
This track is built around the Make Noise NUSS ecosystem, with Polimaths and Multiwave doing most of the heavy lifting. The lead melody comes straight out of Multiwave, where the real magic happens: 8 individual outputs feeding 8 envelopes, each shaping its own voice slightly differently. Small differences, huge payoff — constant movement, depth, and internal motion without ever repeating itself exactly.
The bass is INCUS (Noise Engineering), pushed hard with very fast modulation across multiple parameters. That speed gives it an aggressive, almost unstable drive — tight, nervous, and constantly shifting. Those same bass-derived triggers are repurposed to fire the kick and tom clicks, so rhythm and low-end are deeply intertwined.
Probability plays a big role here. Sometimes I just close the gate on the probability module driving the samples — everything drops out for a moment — then I reopen it and the whole system snaps back into motion. Breathing patterns, controlled chaos.
First time using Trifecta (Ali Modular) as well — subtle delay, phasing, and reverb layered on top of Multiwave to stretch the space without washing out the detail.
I keep coming back to this idea: hyper-fast, evolving IDM structures, then pulling the handbrake for a split second… and letting it all run again. Alive, tense, and constantly in motion.
More to come. This is just the beginning #roelfunckenmusic #idmmusic #eurorackmodular
