“Please Help Me Find My Way”
Acrylics on canvas
This piece is part of my “Diwatas and Bruhas” series where I dive into Pilipino folklore and paranormal stories how it shows up in my life.
My therapist once told me that I need to be in touch of my inner child, that my younger self has all the answers. The Capri is a mythical monster that sits in the treetops. In order to have safe passage, you must offer either cigars or rum.
In this painting, I am the capri, making peace with my inner child. I don’t want to scare her so I wear a mask. She asks me yo be myself but also not labeling myself as a monster, but as a protector and warrior, with a sense of humor 😂
Today, I will be painting a mobile mural at @kanto.corner Spring Fest from 1pm to 6pm
In 2010, my art crew, Beatrock Art, painted a mobile mural at FPAC in 2010
In 2022, under @mujeresdemaiz chose me along with three other artists to paint a mobile mural for Los Angeles' collaborative project focusing on wellness, WE RISE.
Today, I will be starting a new painting and you are welcome to paint with me!
It is all cycles as we learn and teach, participate and produce.
Shout out to my ading who I have known since she was nine years old, one of Kanto Corners organizers @joaaaanm who asked me to be part of the event!

Breathe life into your name, into your body, your family, your community.
If you are going to overthink, might as well think about the best scenarios.
