what a year. look how far i've come. i found my community and myself in a thousand stunning new ways this year; i couldn't feel more loved.

before the holidays, my dad gave me a roll of decades-old expired film. it came out faded, strangely colored, over-exposed. i coaxed these sweet vintage-looking pictures out of those scans. very pleased with these ghostly imprints of friends and cheer and the turning of a year. 🎞️

like olivia's surprise birthday game show. ash's powerpoint presentation party. cozy coworking with rowan. seeing devon again live in concert. a land one magic release event (congrats vidi and elliot!) at 20 sided store. living with (kind of two of) my (dating) best friends, bex and auggie. supporting indie trans queer dance and theatre like faggotica and sapphfest at the brooklyn art haus. poetry readings and halloween costumes and variety shows and photography and the COMMUNITY of dykes and dolls. running my first 10k to start the year. scary game nights with hot friends, jude n aubrey n kutch. gay sushi and robin williams movie nights with stella n dan n drew n wini n romeo. couch cuddles with pals (hbd abbey!) from out of town. grabbing the new year as hard as you can and begging it for all the joy it can give you.

i grew up going sledding on cedar hill. winter days in the park with a thermos of hot cocoa as big as my head. treking up the east side, big coat and orange sled and snow boots in tow. sledding with mama. sledding with friends. i hope to say a million more times, 'i'll race you to the bottom' and 'meet me under the big tree on the right side,' and 'i can't feel my fingers,' and 'another run?' let's go again and again and again.

pax unplugged recap!
- worked with my dear friends @hauntedtable at their booth this year. so many friends came by to interview and say hi and pose with the sick ripple gun, and i got to hear a ton of stories from excited players about my friend's amazing game. overwhelmed with pride and joy for them
- lots of crazy after parties as always! karaoke in a three story gay bar, arcade cabinets and networking, shouted myself hoarse in the marriott lobby, laughed so hard about bubbles at the expresso martini bar. absolutely favorite was the RPG afterparty with a full larp questline between fae and vampires
- got to room with my incredible bestie lexi!! his first pax! and my other incredible roommates maxx and amihan (such cool cosplays btw!)
- the winged bull tavern featured so many of my friends and favorite storytellers, truly a highlight. i loved getting a taste of godkiller and a land once magic and hunt(er/ed)!
- shout out to the amazing work of linnie and friends at the twice rolled tales booth, to the stunning debut of the time we have and ALOM at many sided media, to the game recs from vidi and caleb, and to the horchata at reading terminal
- seeing so many cherished friends only once a year is heartbreaking. i never get to play enough games at conventions and there isn't enough space for one post to say how much i treasure this con every year. <3

the last soirée 🕯️
i hosted (and died in) a murder mystery halloween party this weekend. what does that mean? i designed and wrote an immersive 30-50 person live action roleplay game with escape-room-style puzzle elements, hidden clues, a red string detective board, social intrigue mechanics, and a randomized killer, while covered in fake blood and horror sfx. it was one of the best nights of my life.
shout out to olivia, dan, and drew & also my parents for all their help pulling off one of the coolest things i've ever done. and to my attendees, my collaborators, my secret traders, my gossip mongers, my detectives, my murder victims: thank you for making this possible :)
