Happy Sunday! I think we’re long overdue here for a formal introduction and with so many new followers it’s time you know more about the maker behind the cake! Hi, I’m Alex-I am the artist and owner of Alex Robba Cake! While I’m fairly new in our wedding industry my time spent in the kitchen and with cakes goes back as far as when I was able to hold a spatula in my hand. Baking was a favorite activity I shared with many important people in my family, cakes were always a point of fascination for me. From browsing through old Wilton cake decorator’s instructional yearbooks of decades past in awe (you know I’m talking about plastic pillars, foundations and all!) to mesmerizing frosting recipes in vintage baking magazines; I was hooked! At age 10 I was gifted a Wilton’s Cake Decorating kit and Course for Christmas and after completing all 4 hobbyist courses it only took off from there! Over the years cake decorating was a hobby, something first done for family gatherings, friends and fun turned into a budding business. I pursued formal training in Baking and Pastry Arts from L’Academie de Cuisine where I was immersed in all facets of the industry and I loved every aspect of it but I always knew wedding cakes were where I wanted to specialize. Following my training I worked in the Pastry Department at Park Hyatt in Washington DC where I did everything from plated desserts in their Michelin acclaimed restaurant, tea service desserts, chocolate showpieces and of course wedding cakes. After a rewarding experience in DC I decided to move back to PA, ready to pursue becoming a wedding cake artist as a career. My newly formed style and approach to wedding cakes was greatly influenced from the various workshops I took during my time in DC under instruction of Maggie Austin whom transitioned my focus on perfection to the importance of mistakes and the beauty found in them. From every client email to tasting consultations and the full production of a wedding cake, I’m the person behind all of it. My passion goes far beyond just making a cake, forming a connection and providing something entirely personal to each of my clients is the true satisfaction I take from my craft!

The work toll of a cake encased by individual sugar petals and flowers is daunting, but the effect... . . . . . . Creating on behalf of your clients is an interesting dynamic, you’re both emulating their style and what speaks to them through the channel of your artistry and body of work. That exchange exists on a spectrum and no two projects are ever the same, some lean more heavily toward one side than others. Some works strike what feels like equilibrium and feel so deeply personal for couples and, for myself as the maker. Less often than I would like, I create simply for myself. It’s a practice that can become de-prioritized in the midst of workflow and life. I always can see glimpses of myself in my work but this one was especially resonant, like a true self-portrait translated through sugar, sculpture and care. A reminder that the work we make most honestly tends to leave the deepest imprint.🩵 #weddingcake #cakeartist #wedding #cakeart #luxuryweddings

Read Post First!‼️🚨 Lately I’ve been loving watching the line between my two worlds blur together. I’m well overdue for formal introductions, but if you didn’t know, my world does not end at wedding cakes and sugar flowers, it only begins. The past several years my personal flower growing and gardening passion outside the kitchen gave way to @twigandvinefloraldesign my now, wedding floral design business. I’ve been wonderfully graced with the opportunity to cake and flower for couples for either or both needs. It’s incredibly fulfilling creatively to do both and, even more so gracious of couples to trust me with both of these important wedding elements. I’ve continued to contemplate how these different arts can coalesce and slowly but surely the pieces begin to fall into place. Here is an arrangement entirely from seasonal blooms from my cutting garden but with a few gumpaste sugar flowers layered in. Can you tell which blooms are real are which are made from sugar? Leave your guesses before the final slide reveals them🌸✨ As both a cake artist and floral designer, one of my favorite things is creating experiences where the florals and cake feel like they belong to the same story — whether it’s sugar flowers inspired by garden blooms, or wedding florals designed to echo the artistry of the cake itself. I’m excited to keep exploring the space where these two art forms meet and, if you made it this far, I appreciate you. 🫶🏻

When couples make the creative process feel effortless.✨ T+T brought so much personality, warmth, and infectious energy that the design seemed to reveal itself naturally. They had a clear sense not only of what they were drawn to aesthetically, but of how they wanted their wedding to feel — elegant, playful, a touch unexpected, and entirely their own. That spirit shaped each detail, and was exquisitely translated throughout every aspect of their day by the creative design force of @joemineocreative and @exhaleevents A dream of a couple, and a privilege to create something that felt so distinctly them.🫶🏻 #weddingcakes #cakedesign #luxurywedding #cakeart

There’s something about the cake cutting that feels like a quiet pause in the middle of it all—just the two of them, soaking it in 🤍 How lucky are we to get to create and be part of one of the moments in a day that can feel so big and momentous where it all slows down and it’s just the two of them. Here’s to love, to shared bites, and many more to come, together. 🥂 Photography: @megleephoto Planning: @soireebysouleret Venue: @thepennsylvanianapts Linen: @partymosaic #WeddingCake #CakeCutting #WeddingMoments #cakedesign #eastcoastwedding

Spring was abundant here 💗 Gumpaste flowers in full color set the tone, but this design went so much deeper than florals alone. The cake itself was a surprise from our bride’s parents, and I had the joy of translating that sentiment into something truly personal. During our consultation, we dove into the details (my favorite part ✨), and the idea of an English garden trellis overflowing with blooms quickly took root. That concept became the heart of the design—brought to life through hand-painted tiers that added so much depth to the design. A beautiful reminder that the smallest nuances from a tasting conversation can blossom into the most meaningful design elements. #cake #weddingcake #cakedesign #springwedding

A cake shaped by its surroundings. We looked to the venue’s atmosphere and aesthetic as our starting point, allowing the design to unfold organically from the space itself. When set at @monacopgh is where the design really came to life. A joy to collaborate with @bumbleburgh_events , whose intentional planning and refined vision made every detail feel effortless for K+J🖤🩶🤍
