9 years after our first Rosenkavalier together. This time @wienerstaatsoper ! I can’t even put into words how I feel now that I’ve made my debut @wienerstaatsoper . The house has been so welcoming and getting to meet this incredible audience for the first time has meant so much to me, it all feels like a dream. And to make this debut with @alexandersoddy has made it even more special. I was so young when I was trusted with the role of Sophie for the first time. Back then, Alex guided me through the role and that has been my foundation for every performance of Sophie ever since. It’s been amazing to see with Alex how much of my Sophie is still the same from all those years ago. And what’s developed and changed. After a heavenly couple of seasons in Italy with productions of Salome and Macbeth @teatrodelmaggio , concerts with @accademiadisantacecilia and premieres of Cosi fan tutte and Götterdämmerung, culminating in a complete Ring Cycle @teatroallascala - I am incredibly honoured to have been awarded the Premio Abbiati as “Conductor of the year” 🙏 (Many congratulations to my wonderful Macbeth @lucabaritono for his award- much-deserved for his extraordinary performance 🤩)

And this is the challenge because there's so much going on: so much musical layering and information and leitmotifs and counterpoint, and just sound." The Wiener Symphoniker, conducted by Alexander Soddy, opened yesterday's concert with Wagner’s Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde, before Augustin Hadelich brought Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 63 vividly to life 🎻🎶After captivating Vienna audiences with Brahms during his previous visit, Hadelich did so again — this time with Prokofiev. As an encore, he played Louisiana Blues Strut by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson. After the interval, Elgar’s Enigma Variations concluded the evening.
