Franco Bollo 🏴 & Teli Caring 🇹🇬 are reversing the second-hand clothing route, and creating a collection of Jumpers representing this. Togo is the first and main focal point in the creation, rather than the last.
Through my WhatsApp learnings of local life in Lomé and regular communication with Teli Caring’s founder, Moïse - Franco Bollo is creating a collection of Jumpers which reflect the impact this fateful and incidental connection has made, with the goal to funnel proceeds back to our 3 selected female vendors at Ahanakoupé market. Yasmine, Odibeze and Mummy.
This project has been underway for close to 8 months now and 7 of the jumpers are in progress. This is a montage with some of my favourite clips with little bits of the sewing process sprinkled in.
THE MARY FROM LISBON JUMPER 🇵🇹
The first stop of the FRANCO BOLLO WORLD TOUR 🗺️
To buy the MARY FROM LISBON jumper, you have the agency to coordinate my visit to you as you wish.
If you can get me to your little Lithuanian village for a night for £32, that will do. If you need to spend £1,654 to get me to yours in Tokyo I’m afraid that’ll have the be the case. Get creative and be as stingy as you like.
Once I get to you, I give you your new jumper, and we collaborate to create the next one.
Any location is ok with me. Just not Brighton or anywhere in Sussex… or Benidorm or Dubai.
Acquire this piece of my brief time in Lisbon and pass on a piece of your lore to the next stingy fucker.
Part 3 🇹🇬 ♻️ 🏴
To get the jumpers from Togo 🇹🇬 to England 🏴 for as cheap as possible, they had to get to Nigeria 🇳🇬 first. These Lome-Lagos ‘wagons’ or ‘bus-drivers’ were the best bet.
These are probably my favourite videos I’ve received from Moïse. And they were maybe the easiest bit of the delivery.
The next reel goes into the tiring, messy and entertaining process of finding the right courier to ship it from Lagos 🇳🇬 to London 🏴

PART 2 🇹🇬 - Acquiring the jumpers
Instead of ditching the unwanted clothes, giving an unfair deal to the vendors & making profit
We are taking them away from Togo, re-infusing them with value, designing them with our story, and giving all of the proceeds back to the market vendors through Teli Caring.
Aside from a clothing project, it is a cultural exchange.

Plenty more of the story to be told, but this is what I can do with the first 90 seconds.
