“Mnemonico” è una fanzine che approfondisce la mia narrativa sulla migrazione e i legami lasciati in sospeso, tracciando un parallelo tra amore e morte, dolore e bellezza, perdita e scoperta. È un’esplorazione sull’identità nel luogo di nascita che ho lasciato alle spalle e nel quale ritorno con l’obiettivo di trasformare il dolore in un catalizzatore di bellezza.
Grazie a chi in questo periodo mi ha dato supporto, guida e voglia di conoscere meglio i miei fantasmi e farmeli amici.

The fanzine “Mnemonic” delves into my narrative on migration and the bonds left unresolved, drawing a parallel between love and death, pain and beauty, loss and discovery. It is an exploration about identity in the birthplace I left behind to which I return with the aim of transforming pain into a catalyst for beauty.
Thanks to those who gave me support, guidance and desire to get to know my ghosts better and make them friends.
Attempts to capture the essence and devotion of Semana Santa experienced in Ayacucho around daily processions. Ayacucho is known to be the city with the largest celebrations of Jesus Christ’s resurrection in the Americas.

These images are the result of very hard work, much harder than I could have imagined, they come out through myself, they speak of my relationship with death, but also with life. Believing in what I was doing was a real challenge, changing my mindset and relating intimately to the concept of death itself was incredibly difficult. Only towards the end of this journey I realized that I was trying to save things from death photographing a moment for fear that that would disappear forever. As a result I feel that in a certain way I was also trying to save myself.

I can never thank @yaelmtzv enough for shocking and spurring me to do "something more”; that "Sueltate mujer!" will resonate inside me for a long time. Thank you @alejandraoroscovenero and @paul.gambin for the support and heartfelt advice and thank you to the new friends I have met along this journey. I am extremely grateful.

Ci si libera da catene visibili, ma ancora di più da quelle che non si vedono. Resistere nel riconoscere i soprusi, nel sottrarsi ai manipolatori, nel trovare la forza a ciò che opprime anche quando non ha un nome. È un gesto collettivo, nelle voci che si uniscono e nei corpi che avanzano insieme.
Non appartiene solo alla memoria, continua ogni volta che qualcuno sceglie di non piegarsi.

Il Sacro e il Turismo convivono come coinquilini costretti: uno pretende silenzio e rispetto, l’altro arriva con le scarpe sporche e lascia tutte le luci accese. Non si sopportano, ma nessuno può sloggiare l’altro.
La religione ha bisogno della folla per sembrare ancora centrale; il turismo ha bisogno della scenografia sacra per dare un po’ di senso alle proprie foto. È l’ironia della modernità: si cerca il sacro, ma lo si calpesta distratti mentre si pensa l’inquadratura migliore.

In piazza per la Palestina, per la fine del genocidio, un milione di persone, una voce sola. Partecipazione, dissenso, presenza.
Mentre il governo resta fermo, la gente si muove.
Si manifesta per la fine di un conflitto, e ci si ritrova circondati da chi la violenza la esercita. È nelle nostre strade, nelle cariche sui manifestanti, nelle mani dei militanti di Casapound.

Con il 53% dei voti, @vittoria_ferdinandi ha trionfato al ballottaggio, segnando il ritorno del centrosinistra alla guida della città dopo un decennio di amministrazione di centrodestra. La vittoria arriva al termine di una lunga e intensa campagna elettorale che ha coinvolto profondamente la cittadinanza. “Abbiamo compiuto un miracolo”, ha dichiarato entusiasta la neoeletta sindaca, ricevendo l’appassionato sostegno dei perugini e delle perugine. Perugia celebra così una svolta politica significativa. Il mare è arrivato in città, Vittoria!

Of course this type of image can be created using AI tools with prompts like “ woman sleeping next to her pet, serene look on her face, shot on film with 50 mm lens ....“ , in batch, way faster , some might even look better.
But would it be the same when you caught your friend napping in the afternoon sun filtered through the white linen, knowing she just finished two sessions of work and have three more to go, but the world was on pause for her that moment. The only sound was she breathing and me pressing shutter.
I believe it is our experience that gives meaning to our photos, and if we try hard, with a little bit of luck, our viewers might experience that as well, and that , can’t be replaced by anything.
