Hi everyone, I am busy putting the finishing touches on the UI for my new app GlitchStep and am looking for some beta testers to fill out the beta group.
GlitchStep is a monophonic step sequencer auv3 with 16 steps. I created it because for a long time I have been looking for the perfect little step sequencer that was tuned to my workflow. The main feature that I was looking for was to be able to set the notes on all 16 steps, but then toggle the steps on and off without either removing them from the sequence or erasing the note information. I found a couple apps that could do this but ran into other limitations like octave range.
I took this jammability concept further by adding a slice grid to it, similar to what is in GlitchCore, where you can create slice patterns to rearrange the steps on the fly. I also added a Glitch button and slider that lets you add some chaos to the sequence.
It is really geared for performing with the sequence and has randomization for both patterns and slices. For patterns you can set steps, notes, gate, velocity, and randomize or shuffle 1 or more of these (shuffle keeps your setting, but shuffles the order).
For slice randomization it uses the same randomization algorithm as GlitchCore making more intelligent grid runs when randomizing.
There are playlists for both patterns and slices, and you can dynamically change the current list index while playing.
It has copy and paste, and pattern and slice shifting (4 directions for slices)
It has lots of built in scales, and you can change the key, octave range, minimum octave, rate, step direction, step start and end, and of course midi channel.
Let me know if you might be interested in joining the beta test. I will be hosting either a slack or discord (haven't decided yet, let me know what you would like best) for communication.
When messaging me, please provide your name and testflight email.
I also attached a couple of work in progress previews of some UI elements to give you a feel for the look of the app.
Thank you,
Alex
