Nothing fascinates me more than how much connection and community can come from a beautiful and intentionally brewed coffee.
I've been blessed to have met so many incredible and inspiring people from all across the city/country/world just through slinging mud for the last ten years, and helping to connect people in my own little way is the one thing I want keep doing as long as I can. Whether it's a deep dive into granular coffee info, branding, barflow, narratives, product, or just talking shop, I've never felt more motivated to get involved in as much as I can within coffee culture and everything it orbits.

the blackout held a nice message but I think education and seeking out why the black community is hurting is so much is much more valuable than optical demonstrations of solidarity. in Australia Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only account for 3% of the population, so educating white people on how colonial structures and ceaseless racist profiling effects the lives of black people is only going to be effective if the other 97% of the population takes accountability for it as well. only when those of us who continue to actively be privileged by systems of oppression choose to do the difficult work of unpicking these structures will any meaningful change come to fruition. i have put a few links in my bio for places you can direct monetary support for local cases of police violence and also a few recent pieces that I think elucidate why the pain of George Floyd's murder resonates so strongly with Aboriginal people here, and how our country is just as indifferent to the suffering of black people. it's not much but if everyone who posted a black square could take the time to engage with some of the important work of others I'm sharing I think that would be enormously positive
