For the uninitiated, Alder Deep may seem an outlier among the more straightforward fantasy and medieval tones of common Dungeon Synth fare. On the contrary, Alder Deep has been releasing their unique brand of Dungeon Noise since 2017 with the release of the first chapter of their debut trilogy. Since then they have released several more albums and live recordings and have been a frequent participant in the live scene since its advent. Sonically, Alder Deep plumbs strange and murky depths of electronic music, crossing over into pure noise and hypnotic oppression as melancholic melody struggles to pin the haze and chaos down into song. In their live show, be prepared for massive volume and inhuman visage to leave a lasting impression that will haunt you long after the final note rings out. Alder Deep remains one of the strangest and most genuine artifacts operating in Dungeon Synth today and an experience listeners will not want to miss out on at Dungeon Siege West MMXXV.

I first saw Alder Deep at @texasdungeonsiege 2024, but had already heard of their specific brand of grinding, subterranean dungeon synth. The collapsing delay sounds live alongside each layer of new notes in a way that often makes sense melodically, but sometimes drifts into strange abrasive zones that remind me of power-electronics synth lines
If I’m remembering correctly, I saw someone else post a merch spread with these stickers after the fest and messaged Alder Deep to see about getting one through the mail. The Alderen were kind enough to send me a couple stickers and some other ephemera

Alder Deep is performing this Sunday (4/2) in Worcester, MA at 5pm EST as part of the 2023 Northeast Dungeon Siege!
This will be the 4th time I play a set for this festival series, and I am honored to share a stage and put out my dark oddity alongside so many excellent dungeon synthers.
