While my go to beach is Waikiki for my surf spot (Publics), my favorite beach to hang out at and relax is Ala Moana Beach Park. For those wondering what the song is, it’s called Ku‘u Home O Kahalu‘u by Olomana. A family had it playing on their huge speaker. Love it. #nationalbeachday
Miss these two wonderful women—my grandma and my (great) Aunty Sue (my grandma’s sister). From Mother’s Day 2012 in Honolulu. We left the restaurant smelling like Korean BBQ. I took my grandma to Morimoto Waikiki later that night.
Chef Sheldon Simeon (@chefwonder ) discusses the evolution of Hawai‘i cuisine and how the Hawaiians and immigrant ethnic groups contributed to it. Great event the other night to celebrate the release of his new cookbook Ohana Style: Food from Hawai‘i, for Your Family.
Shots from the Red Bull Showrun on Marina Blvd in San Francisco’s Marina District. I’m biased, but it was great to see @yukitsunoda0511 driving the old RB7. Love the sound of the screaming V8 engine.
Happy 13th Anniversary to our friends at @terunpizza !Outstanding food, always a great time. It’s become an annual tradition for Jen, Marc, Harper, and me (we missed @dashfranklin_ as he’s away at college). Thank you for the early birthday dinner, Jen & Marc! Grazie mille for always taking such good care of us, Franco, Maico, and @giuserrico (not pictured).
Photos from day one of Lael Wilcox & Kristin Faulkner’s Coast Ride. They were joined on the day by Kate Courtney. They rode from SF to Monterey (Kate joined them in El Granada/HMB). Absolute hitters, and some incredibly nice people.

Another excellent Ron Sexsmith show Monday night at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley. Played songs from his new album Hangover Terrace, as well as songs from almost all of his previous 17 albums. That impressive body of work affords him the ability to put together some amazing and surprising setlists. Several times during the show I heard a collective gasp—the happy kind—when he started playing certain songs, myself included.
I’ve been fortunate to have seen him play with his band in the past in SF (Cafe du Nord, Yoshi’s, & Hotel Utah). It was nice to have him perform solo (which he’s done the last two times he’s come through the Mill Valley and once in Sacramento). You can really focus on the his singing, lyrics, and guitar/piano playing more than normal. I loved every minute.
He’s a Canadian treasure. We’re lucky to have him visit us in the US.

Saw my friend and former Clif Bar teammate @walle335 and his band tonight. Since he lives in Boise now, I took the opportunity to go see him and his sweet Fender Jazzmaster. Really dug this tune.
Nick Lowe & Los Straightjackets at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass on Sunday. Los Straightjackets played a couple of instrumental surfadelic type of songs during the set. Fantastic set!
Nick Lowe and Los Straightjackets were outstanding! He played So It Goes for his first song. I was hoping he’d play Cruel To Be Kind. He did not disappoint. #HSB2025
