The #CapeTownConcertSeries presents the #StPetersburgStringQuartet in a special ‘extra’ concert at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenpoint. The St Peterburg String Quartet are an internationally renowned #Grammy nominated chamber ensemble based in the USA.
They will be touring South Africa for the first time. The concert forms part of the Concert Series’ initiative to present the finest chamber music available in the country and to bring classical music into the city centre. They will perform a programme of Ravel, Shostakovitch and Glazunov.
The concert starts at 11am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, cnr of Somerset and Napier Streets, Greenpoint. Seating is unreserved and nearby street parking as well as parking at the #CapeQuarter is available. Paulines Coffee Shop and the Goodman Art Gallery will also be open to enjoy before or after the concert.

Bruno Liljefors (Swedish, 1860-1939).
Bruno Andreas Liljefors was a Swedish artist, perhaps best known for his nature and animal motifs, especially in dramatic situations. He was the most important and probably most influential Swedish wildlife painter of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
During the last years of the nineteenth century, a brooding element entered his work, perhaps the result of turmoil in his private life. He was often short of money and in 1925, he suffered a facial neuralgia with severe pain. From 1932, Liljefors lived at Kungsholmen in Stockholm. The last two years of his life, he spent in Uppsala.
