Have an animal concern but aren’t sure how to report it or who to call? Begin by identifying the situation and assessing your concern. If you’re unsure, visit our website and click “Have an animal concern?” to find out who to contact. Under the Animal Protection Act, peace officers have authority to investigate concerns of animal abuse or neglect if there is reason to believe that an animal is: (a) deprived of adequate shelter, ventilation, space, food, water or veterinary care or reasonable protection from injurious heat or cold, (b) injured, sick, in pain or suffering, or (c) abused or subjected to undue hardship, privation or neglect. If your concern meets these requirements, contact: In Edmonton: 311 - Edmonton Animal Care & Control Centre In Calgary: 403-205-4455 - Calgary Humane Society Outside Calgary and Edmonton: 1-800-455-9003 - Alberta SPCA

For the second year in a row, Pendleton hosted a wargaming event in support of the Alberta SPCA! Last year, he raised more than $3,000 to help animals across Alberta. This year, he expanded the event from one day to two, bringing people together through their shared love of Warhammer and animals. Inspired by his two Australian Shepherds at home, Pendleton helped make Alberta a safer place for all animals. Thank you, Pendleton! Have a creative fundraiser idea of your own? Let us know — you could make a difference for animals too!

Meet Hazel 🐾 Last winter, our peace officers responded to a rural property in Alberta where they found eight cane corso puppies living in heartbreaking conditions. Among them was Hazel. Confined to a small, unsanitary room with no outdoor access, Hazel was frightened and clearly neglected when officers arrived. She was removed, received immediate veterinary care, and was placed with a caregiver to recover. Just two weeks later, she was running, playing, and asking for belly rubs. Her story is a reminder of the resilience animals can have when given a chance to heal. Visit our website to learn more about Hazel’s story — link in bio.

Today is Adopt a Shelter Pet Day 💙💛 It’s a great opportunity to recognize the hundreds of animals who are patiently waiting for loving homes. Adoption doesn’t just change one animal’s life — it changes two, the animal you bring home and the animal in need who can then take their place in care. If you’re considering welcoming a new companion into your home, we encourage you to connect with your local shelter or rescue. For a list of rescues and shelters in Alberta, visit the link in our bio.
