Under the Animal Protection Act, peace officers have authority to investigate concerns of animal abuse or neglect if there is reason to believe that an animal is:
(a) deprived of adequate shelter, ventilation, space, food, water or veterinary care or reasonable protection from injurious heat or cold,
(b) injured, sick, in pain or suffering, or
(c) abused or subjected to undue hardship, privation or neglect.

For the second year in a row, Pendleton hosted a wargaming event in support of the Alberta SPCA! Last year, he raised more than $3,000 to help animals across Alberta.
This year, he expanded the event from one day to two, bringing people together through their shared love of Warhammer and animals. Inspired by his two Australian Shepherds at home, Pendleton helped make Alberta a safer place for all animals. Thank you, Pendleton!

Meet Hazel 🐾
Last winter, our peace officers responded to a rural property in Alberta where they found eight cane corso puppies living in heartbreaking conditions. Among them was Hazel.
Confined to a small, unsanitary room with no outdoor access, Hazel was frightened and clearly neglected when officers arrived. She was removed, received immediate veterinary care, and was placed with a caregiver to recover. Just two weeks later, she was running, playing, and asking for belly rubs.
Her story is a reminder of the resilience animals can have when given a chance to heal.
