Humans perceive more shades of green than any other color. The frequency of it vibrates with aliveness, with awakening. Green is a life force. It is light metabolized. Probably why I’m drawn to it the most.
Painting, to me, has always been about color and light—physical but intangible qualities. It has little to do with knowing and more to do with feeling.
The artist Christopher Le Brun once said, “the glory of painting is its presence, its thereness, its ‘unanswerability’, its bodily effect in us over and above merely the optical.”
To me, that’s aliveness.

The scar under my eye is faint now, but this morning I noticed it darker than usual. It does that sometimes. Then it suddenly hit me: exactly 8 years ago I had a crash skiing in these mountains that changed the course of my life.
Honoring the inflection points today. The things we don’t see coming. The hard resets. The stories we wear, all while we’re evolving. 🤍
What is love but a practice in holding the hard parts of yourself or another with tenderness and curiosity. 💞
I recently came across this photo that my friend @jobimanson took of me in Greece a few years ago. I remember climbing up on these rocks at the beach because I was drawn to a singular formation that looked exactly like a clenched fist. I saw myself in that fist, and all of the ways tension had lived knotted in my body and mind for so long. I perched there for a while, just holding it, feeling its crevices. Quiet, present, gentle—being with. My soft body upon the hard stone.
I am glad to have this reminder of the complexities and contrasts that create one’s wholeness. It is deep work to be in your honest entirety. And what a gift to be seen as you are. Thanks for witnessing me, J. 🙏

“Don’t be afraid to be confused. Try to remain permanently confused. Anything is possible. Stay open, forever, so open it hurts, and then open up some more, until the day you die.” —George Saunders
So open it hurts. Be an instrument of kindness. The world is harsh. And whatever you do, do not be careless with someone’s heart.
A year of returning to myself. Softening, releasing, shedding, remembering and forgetting. Discomfort. Solitude. Nuance. Wearied by the ache of it all. Emboldened by the strength in it all. In the spaces between I found a kind of cellular settling. Stillness as a form of resistance. I went into the wild as much as I could to behold paths that diverge and systems that connect. The thing about life is, you never know how it’s going to go. So much is beyond our control. But however it goes, wherever you go, there you are. The trick is to find the beauty in that.
Onward, friends. Keep the light on for each other. 🕯️
