Becoming Together was a three-day immersive cultural gathering in New Orleans conceived by curator Samantha Katz (
@samanthakatz.art ) and architect Alan Paukman (
@alanmarkitect ), using the city itself as collaborator and muse. Across a series of site-specific environments — a raw exhibition space, the historic Kingsway Mansion, the Toulouse Theatre, and a converted chapel — artists, performers, musicians, and designers activated each space through painting, sculpture, live performance, set design, and sound. The weekend drew on New Orleans’ deep traditions of ritual, improvisation, and pageantry, blurring the line between audience and artwork at every turn. It was more than a festival, it was a living collage that positioned costume, food, architecture, and performance as equally valid artistic mediums within a single shared experience.
