Affordable housing in the U.S. has been shaped by major policy decisions. During the Great Depression, leaders like Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harold L. Ickes helped expand public housing, creating new opportunities for millions. But these systems were not created equally—many communities were excluded, laying the groundwork for housing disparities that still exist today. At Alameda Point Collaborative (APC), we work to close those gaps by providing supportive housing that centers dignity, access, and long-term stability. Housing policy shapes lives—and so does the work we do today. #affordablehousingmonth #alamedapointcollaborative

What a powerful turnout for the McKay Avenue ribbon cutting! With more than 300 community members in attendance, the celebration marked an exciting and meaningful milestone for Alameda. The opening of Arnold’s Place, a 50-bed medical respite center, reflects what’s possible when a community comes together with purpose. Named in honor of Arnold Perkins, this new space will provide short-term, supportive care for unhoused individuals recovering from illness or hospitalization—offering not just medical support, but dignity, stability, and connection. We’re deeply grateful to all who attended, partnered, and helped bring this vision to life. Moments like this remind us: real progress happens when people show up. Thank you for being part of it. May is National Affordable Housing Month — a time to recognize that housing is more than a roof over one’s head. Stable homes provide safety, opportunity, and a foundation for families to rebuild their lives. At Alameda Point Collaborative (APC), permanent supportive housing helps residents gain independence, pursue employment, and focus on their future. Every home we provide is a step toward stability. Throughout this month, we’ll be exploring the history of housing in the United States—highlighting key moments and voices that have shaped where we are today—and how that history connects to the work we do every day at APC. Because understanding the past helps us build a more equitable future. #affordablehousingmonth #alamedapointcollaborative

Earth Day is a reminder that caring for our environment is also caring for our community. At Alameda Point Collaborative, sustainability is part of our everyday work. Through programs like @Farm2Market , @Ploughshares Nursery, and our community garden, residents and volunteers come together to grow food, cultivate green spaces, and promote environmental stewardship. These spaces do more than support the planet — they provide opportunities for learning, job training, and community connection. By investing in sustainability, we’re helping build healthier environments and stronger futures for the families we serve. Together, we can nurture both people and the planet. #earthday #alamedapointcollaborative

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we reflect on the countless women whose leadership, courage, and determination have helped shape a more just and equitable world. Their work to expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and advocate for dignity continues to inspire the values that guide our mission at Alameda Point Collaborative. Access to stable housing, economic opportunity, and supportive services helps ensure that individuals and families have the foundation they need to build stronger futures. The legacy of women who have advanced equity and opportunity reminds us that meaningful change is built through compassion, resilience, and community — principles that continue to guide our work every day. #womenshistorymonth #alamedapointcollaborative

Advocates like Dolores Huerta have spent decades fighting for dignity, fair treatment, and opportunity for working families. Her message — “Sí, se puede” — reminds us that change is possible through collective effort. Every day at APC, we witness that resilience in the women we serve — mothers rebuilding after hardship, women securing employment, and families creating new beginnings in stable housing. This Women’s History Month, we celebrate the women of the past who paved the way — and the women in our community who continue to move us forward. #womenshistorymonth #alamedapointcollaborative

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us on March 21st for our Community Garden volunteer day! Your time, energy, and dedication made a meaningful impact as we worked together to restore and revitalize this important space. We also extend our sincere thanks to the @projectpeaceeastbay volunteers who joined us on Saturday to trim the fences and roadsides. Your efforts helped enhance the safety and appearance of our community, and we truly appreciate your support. From clearing debris and preparing the soil to building and improving shared areas, your contributions are helping create a garden that will support environmental education, food access, and community connection for our residents. Because of you, this space continues to grow and thrive. We’re so grateful for your support and for being part of our community. #volunteerappreciation #alamedapointcollaborative
