Today would have been my grandfathers 92nd Birthday. Our Birthdays were only 4 days apart. These photos were taken at his 90th Birthday party, our family had all pitched in to buy him a new lazy boy. He was a man who could appreciate a good lazy boy. Today I also made the annual drive up to Vermont to celebrate the holidays (and often times our birthdays) with my family. Same trip I have been making for the last 40 years. Difference is this will be the first without my gramps. And though he won’t be there to celebrate, he will certainly be celebrated! Miss you Gramps! 🎄❤️🎂
Many thanks to everyone who reached out and joined me in celebrating my birthday over the weekend!! This was a special one for sure!! Got to enjoy all my favorite things… Breakfast at Bert’s, classic movies in the think tank, take out from Village Haven but what really took the cake was the Cheers themed surprise party that I totally didn’t see coming! It was so great seeing my friends old and new. Big shout out to @emmadarling and @eberard2 for organizing it all. It really means a lot. Also I have to say thanks to my real life Cheers @luckyenoughpvd for hosting us. Best bartenders at the best bar in the best city! Thanks again everyone! Love you all! Here’s to the next 40! 🍺🥨❤️
Last week I lost one of my favorite people on the planet…my Gramps. If you knew him you know it would be impossible for me to try and sum him up in one post. What I will say is as a grandfather he checked all the boxes…he made me laugh, he teased me constantly, he put me and my cousins in precarious situations with what seemed like little concern for our safety, he inspired me, he scared the shit out of me, he bought us donuts, he gave us haircuts, he told great stories, he sang songs and played the accordion, he showed me movies I was way to young too see, but above all he cared about me. Which I really began to appreciate as I got older. He was one of the few people that I could tell was always truly happy to see me, just by the way he smiled whenever I surprised him and my grandmother with a visit. And whenever I was with him he was always so interested in what I was up to. He’s someone I could never have spent enough time with, but will be forever grateful to have had him in my life as long as I did. He taught me how to shoot a bow, hang a door, and carry a canoe among other things. But his sense of style is what really stuck with me, he was very conscious of the cloths he bought and wore. It had to be quality stuff. We often spent time showing off our boots, hats, etc to each other. I loved that we had that appreciation in common. As you can see I kind stole his fashion sense haha. He will always be my definition of cool. I know the last few months were hard for him so I hope wherever he is now he’s back on his horse looking fly and shooting jack rabbits. Love you Gramps ❤️🦌🏹🛶
Paid my grandparents a visit for Memorial Day and realized it was also my Pepe’s birthday just a couple of days ago (May 26th) He would of been 103! He served in WWII as part of the 10th Mountain Division. I was just 14 when he passed. Wish I could of known him more but thankful for the time I got. 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸 Happy Birthday Pepe! We miss you!
