Before sunrise, we met on the frozen lake to begin learning the Ferrari GTC4Lusso experiencing Italian engineering through its V12 power and unique four-wheel-drive system on extreme snow and ice.
To safely explore the full potential of the car on the ice track, we started with exercises focused on understanding rotation, balance, and how power transfers through all four wheels.
In the afternoon, the challenge continued.
We brought the car onto snow, dirt, and gravel pushing further, learning more with every surface change.
Finally, the driver explored the true character of the machine: the sound of the engine, the power delivery, and the feeling of four driven wheels running free across winter terrain.
Learn hard.
Play hard.
Eat hard.

Out at the lake, we kept it controlled:
figure 8s, small ovals, then easy runs across the full ice surface — a proper EZ Sunday drive.
Within two hours, we were already dialing it in — getting the car properly sideways and building confidence for CSCC rallycross.
This is what early practice looks like.
Learning the car. Feeling the balance. Finding the limit.
And don’t worry, doc… you’ll survive.
Just one rule:
keep clearing the snow out of the rear wheels —
or your brake pads will die… and take the ceramic rotors with them.

Watching Andy @hpuv find the cadence of the 2025 GR Corolla SE on Ghost Lake was a masterclass in adaptation. With the XTRM studded tires biting into the ice and the Gravel Mode sending torque where it matters most, the car transforms from a daily driver into a rally-bred weapon.

Andy @hpuv is a quick learner. As a singer, he understands rhythm and timing on ice, driving is no different.
He controls the car like a singer hitting the perfect note, exactly at the right moment.
This wasn’t about speed.
It was about control.
We started with a simple Figure 8 then a double Figure 8 - learning balance, weight transfer, and the transition from understeer to oversteer.
GR Corolla Track Mode:
50/50 torque split. Stable. Planted. Safe… but naturally pushing toward understeer.
Gravel Mode:
Everything changed.
The rear began to rotate. The chassis came alive. The true AWD character revealed itself.
Running Continental IceContact XTRM studded tires, we created a safe environment to explore the limit of grip - lap after lap, building real muscle memory.
Sideways. Corrections. Recovery. Repeat.
Mistakes weren’t failures.
They were lessons.
Every slide meant progress.
In less than an hour, the driver experienced more real car control learning than many drivers will in a lifetime.
Because drifting isn’t style.
It’s understanding.
You don’t start with lap times.
You start with feeling the car.

We threw the GR Corolla onto the ice on XTRM studded tires, and you can truly feel that Gazoo Racing rally DNA wake up the moment the surface gets loose.
The grip from the XTRM studs through the corners is massive, but what surprised me most was the attitude at high speeds. This car wants to rotate harder than you’d expect and finding the balance between that rotation and the AWD pull is where the real learning starts.
