Our High Bridge office and NYC Engineering Group celebrated the recent NCAA playoffs with our annual Mario Kart Madness tournament. It was an incredible few weeks of intense matchups, nonstop action, and most importantly, lots of fun. Until next year... who’s training in the offseason? 🏀 #MarchMadness #MarioKart #TeamBuilding #AECindustry

Earlier this month, our High Bridge office had a blast growing something special together. 🌿 Taking full advantage of recent warm weather, the team came together for a terrarium-building activity. Each mini garden turned out to be a unique reflection of its builder! #TeamBuilding #AECindustry

AKRF’s acoustics team recently completed acoustical compliance testing at Sunset Pier 94 Studios on Manhattan's West Side. The team evaluated sound stage elephant doors, partitions, and personnel doors; measured HVAC background noise; and tested reverberation time to confirm an optimal sonic environment for filming. With testing now finalized across all six sound stages, Pier 94 is fully open for clients with the show "Dexter: Resurrection" already filming its new season! #SunsetPier94 #Acoustics #AECindustry #ManhattanSoundstages

Meandering through Idlewild salt marsh in Queens sits Brookville Boulevard, known locally as “Snake Road.” Due to its design and low-lying nature, the roadway experiences dangerous flooding from regular high tides and storm events. AKRF is working with @nyc_dot to propose solutions for flood mitigation while minimizing the road’s impact on the surrounding marsh. Aligning concepts with local priorities is crucial and best achieved through detailed input from impacted communities. Public meetings and workshops, including a public information meeting in Springfield Gardens in December, allow our team to engage with residents, keep stakeholders informed, and receive their ideas as the project advances. A curated auditory environment has an invisible but tangible influence on our well-being and sense of place. What better way to understand this impact than hearing it for yourself? In partnership with @moodsonic , we welcomed guests for an event showcasing “living acoustics,” a design approach that treats sound as the moldable medium it’s always been. With our office space as an example, visitors explored an auditory environment finely tuned to the space, the users, and ever-changing interactions—allowing them to envision what’s possible in their own and client spaces. 🔗Learn more about the event and how you can join next time at the link in our bio. #acoustics #biophilicdesign #soundscaping

We were thrilled to recently attend and connect with the neighborhood at the East River Park Community Day. AKRF performed neighborhood noise impact modeling and provided acoustic design services for the new park amphitheater shown above.   The event celebrated the opening of East River Park Phase One—an East Side Coastal Resiliency milestone—and featured live music, sports clinics, NYC park rangers leading information sessions on urban ecology, and the opportunity to explore the resilient park.
