Mental health support is growing in Singapore, but behind every therapy session is often unseen emotional work. Following CNA’s recent feature with our founder, Sze Jin, we wanted to reflect on a quieter side of mental healthcare that people don’t always see: the supervision, emotional holding, training, reflection, and structural challenges behind sustainable care. As demand for mental health support continues to rise, conversations around mental healthcare also need to go beyond awareness alone. Because supporting mental health isn’t just about increasing access, it’s also about supporting the people, systems, and infrastructure that make quality care possible. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we honour not only those reaching out for help, but also the many professionals working quietly behind the scenes to hold space for others 🤍 Read the CNA article in our link in bio! #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #MentalHealthSG #TherapyMatters #MentalHealthSupport #PsychologySG #AKindPlace

You can love motherhood… and still struggle deeply inside it. The part where you feel grateful… and overwhelmed at the same time. The part where everything changes quietly — inside you, in ways no one really sees. In this reflection, our founder Sze Jin shares an honest look at pregnancy, postpartum, and maternal mental health 🤍 Swipe through to read the reflection → Or read the full piece via the link in our bio. #akindplace #MaternalMentalHealth #MotherhoodJourney #PostpartumSupport #ᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜᴀᴡᴀʀᴇɴᴇss

Sometimes we hear parents say, “My child seems fine at school… but at home, it’s a different story.” If this feels familiar, you’re not imagining it. For many autistic children, anxiety doesn’t always look obvious. It can show up as exhaustion, withdrawal, or strong reactions to small changes. This is often because their day involves more than we see: • managing sensory input (sounds, lights, busy spaces) • coping with changes or uncertainty • navigating social situations • constantly thinking about what to say or do Some children cope by “holding it together”: • copying others • hiding how they feel • closely monitoring their behaviour This is called camouflaging, and it takes a lot of energy. So when they come home overwhelmed, it’s not bad behaviour. It’s the result of trying very hard all day. 🤍 #akindplace #autismawareness #childanxiety #neurodiversity #parentinginsights

A quick explanation for parents: When a child says “I don’t know,” it’s easy to assume they’re avoiding the question. But often, it’s something else entirely. When emotions become intense, the part of the brain responsible for language and reasoning becomes less active. Which means, even if they feel a lot, they may not be able to explain it yet. In those moments, more questions can feel like pressure. And pressure can lead to more shutdown. What helps instead is creating safety first, giving them space to settle, so the words can come after. This video breaks it down simply, and shows what to do in that moment 🤍 #akindplace #childpsychology #parenteducation #gentleparenting #emotionalregulation

“Can’t you just tell me what to do?” It’s one of the most common questions in therapy! And honestly… we get it. When you’re overwhelmed, having someone give you the answer feels like relief. But therapy isn’t about giving you a script to follow. It’s about helping you build the clarity, confidence, and trust to make decisions that are truly yours. Because real change doesn’t come from someone else taking the wheel — it comes from learning how to drive, even when the road feels uncertain. You don’t have to figure it out alone. But you also don’t have to lose yourself in the process. #TherapyExplained #MentalHealthMatters #SelfTrust #EmotionalGrowth #TherapyJourney #AKindPlace #MentalHealthSG

Your child held it together all day… just to fall apart with you. At school, they’re focusing, behaving, coping. Holding in emotions. Trying to get everything right. But at home? They don’t have to anymore. So the tears, the attitude, the overwhelm… it’s not them being “worse.” It’s them feeling safe enough to let go. Sometimes, the hardest behaviours… come from the safest place 🤍 Explore how we support emotional and everyday skill building through our Independent Adult Programme - link in bio. Follow for more insights from our Kind Guide Series, where we help you understand the “why” behind your child’s behaviour. #akindplace #gentleparenting #parentinginsights #childdevelopment #emotionalwellbeing
