Last night I celebrated Asian Heritage Month with @akgamu.ca at Isabel Bader Theatre. 💫
The talented @john_taewookie , @roa_gayageum , @pansori_into , and @100ghyun brought Toronto an unforgettable evening of traditional Korean music, song, and dance. ✨
Their art made my world bigger. I left the theatre knowing I’d wake up differently. 🎐

check out the OG traditional fan chants and ’어야디야!” with us @akgamu.ca on May 2! I’m ready- are you? 🛶
Baetnorae (뱃노래) is Korea’s version of the traditional sea shanty boat song folk songs historically sung by fishermen and sailors to synchronize oar movements, boost morale, and pray for a safe, bountiful catch.
‘어야디야‘ is actually an interjection- Similar to “Heave-ho!” in English, it is an exclamation meant to encourage teamwork and lift spirits during work.
