Adanna Kenlow is a performing artist from Long Beach, CA. Her parents enriched her and her siblings in the arts from an early age, starting with music and dance—primarily West African and Folklorico.
Her father, jazz musician Tommy Thomas (Aphrodisiac, Back To The Future), made sure music was a daily part of life.Adanna’s love for singing led her to choir, while theater came later in high school when she played the Mother in The Friends of Julia Dark.
Around that time, she also discovered improv when a local troupe visited her school, sparking a passion for comedy.She went on to join GIPS and Improvalicious (later Chameleon Comedy), performing for 8 years. While studying music, theater, comedy, and dance at community college, she realized she was truly an artist. She auditioned for AMDA and earned her BFA in Musical Theater, also expanding into directing and producing.After graduating, Adanna taught improv in Long Beach for 7 years, wrote and directed children’s plays, and brought projects to life both on stage and on camera.
At the Long Beach Playhouse, she has acted (By The Way, Meet Vera Stark; Noises Off!), directed (Saving Hartopia), and taught aspiring young performers.
She’s even appeared in commercials, but today, Adanna embraces a grassroots approach—using her many skills to rise with creative opportunities and community collaborations.

Okay, so like, I rarely ever post here anymore since I’ve been taking a break from performing, and those type of posts are all I used to put on here. But as I was winding down from performing, but still getting gigs, I even hardly posted about those.
Recently, I performed for a private audience at a Bahá’í function, and my spirit has been nagging at me to post it…actually, I'm really proud of it 😄 I hadn't danced (REALLY danced) in over 10 years, my body has changed, and it wasn't even supposed to be just me in this piece, but in collaboration with a local artist (MAJOR props to @renanewspirit for her incredible skill, talent and spirit) we put together a piece that fit the tone of the event, purpose for being and my body's physical and fitness "shape".
I was so nervous about how rusty I am, but I finally remembered that no one in that room would know or even care if I made a mistake or that I'm rusty. So, I was able to get up there and joyfully present this praise dance to the best of my ability. And there were TEARS after! TEARS! I've never been so happy to hear crying 😆😭🥹💕
As I mentioned, my spirit has been nagging at me to post this, so here's me finally (semi) getting over my judgement of Self and being obedient and sharing my Self with you.
